What's New in The Moment by Latent Studios

1.4

September 28, 2026

The Moment keeps growing. This update brings months of quiet care — a steadier, more harmonious app — and new ways to make, keep and share your photographs. LATENT (EXPERIMENTAL) Our own way of making a photograph. One press gathers several frames into a single negative that keeps about two more stops of light in lamps, windows and sky. For members. THE CAMERA • Load a roll of 24 or 36. The frames wait in the camera until you rewind — with the sound and feel of a real rewind. • Open it from the Lock Screen, Control Center or Camera Control, straight onto your film. • 48 MP ProRAW, every time. • Swipe across the viewfinder to change film. MOTION • Takes keep the sound of the room, and print on any paper you choose. • Make a movie: choose takes, put them in order, trim, splice and print it through one printer light. Watch it full screen. • The camcorder is rebuilt. Flip Film · Tape and Video8, VHS-C and Hi8 each record their own picture and sound, sixty fields a second. Every cassette plays on its own deck, and tapes can be dubbed together. • A take cut short by a closed app or a flat battery is kept. A PRINT WITH A BODY Finish is rebuilt from real materials, in four chapters: Film, Paper, Handling and Display. • Real dust, specks and fibres on the negative, from thousands of scanned marks. • Shine: hold the print under a window, a lamp or a raking light. • White borders, rounded corners and a deckle edge. • New frames — Cabinet Card, Carte de Visite, Peel-Apart, Polaroid White, Filed Carrier — and every frame now grows around your whole photograph instead of cropping it. • Life: a wallet print, a shoebox, an album, a wall by the window. • Dates the way cameras and labs really made them: a Quartz databack, embossed, stamped, on a slide mount, or on the back. WORDS ON THE BACK Turn any print over and write on its back. Your words come back to you: on this day, a year ago, and in a diary of your days. PRINTS One Print door for photos, takes, movies and tapes. Keep the back of the print beside it. Prints are named for their film and moment, and carry only the details you'd want. FILMS New photographs develop on refined films and print on the paper itself. Everything you've made before stays exactly as it was. YOUR LIBRARY • Every photograph keeps its own shape. • Keepsakes: prints pinned to the fridge, a shoebox of old ones, slide night. • The Archive: Films, Movies, Cassettes, Books, Words, and your rolls as a table of contents. Filter by kind; reset anything and undo it. • Back Up Library now carries your whole album, free for everyone, and a restore brings it all back. • Settings, redesigned like the album. • A short note in each place the first time you walk in. FRIENDS, NOT FOLLOWERS • Circles are small tables of friends. Hand someone a key; envelopes open like letters. • Notes are letters. People are named, never counted. • Every photographer has a home — hang a print at your door. • Look at any print in its own room, on a darkroom wall, and turn it over to read the notes. • Versos calls are walls you step into, with hosts and catalogues. A NEW WELCOME Five pages that show the real thing. And a faster, calmer app throughout — quicker opening, fewer pauses, better HDR and safer Circle links.
