Not so great update
Can’t say I’m loving the updated app. Font sizes vary by article and in some articles the font can’t be changed. I miss seeing sports highlight at the top - score of Phillies game, upcoming games. Overall the layout seems to be a step backward.

Unusable update
The latest update -9/26 - makes the app clunky and unusable. Different ways to scroll on a page? Then it won’t load. Terrible.
Latest update is awful
Love the Inquirer but the latest version (29.0) is so complicated, it crashes my older iPad. There’s no obvious way to turn off video auto play. And I can no longer refine my feed - eg I want Phillies news but not high school sports. Please please fix the bugs!
Updated: mostly solid online edition of newspaper
Update July 2026: Please stop breaking things with your updates! I brought up the app this morning only to find it thinks I’m not a subscriber. I had to delete the app, reinstall and log in again, and now it’s fine.
Update December 2024: The app is now pretty solid and provides a good reading experience. It’s easy to navigate and double-clicking gets you a one-page version of an article (vs paging through the “paper” to get to the rest of an article.
That said, there’s a basic feature missing. I want a save/share button that lets me (1) save a pdf of the article, (2) print the article, and (3) save a link to the article.

Half-baked app
I really want to support my local newspaper, but this app is not great, and worst of all the only advertising they manage to attract is from Nigerian princes, weight loss “secrets,” and other scams. I wish the app’s support would addresss issues instead of just ignoring them.

Subscription with Ads?
I’m paying monthly for a subscription yet still get obnoxious full screen ads that take over the screen and article I’m reading. Really unfortunate. I won’t be renewing my subscription.
Out of date articles and BIG ADs
I’m really getting fed up with this app. First, while many articles land in the app days before appearing in the published newspaper; there are many “breaking” stories that don’t show up in the app.
The inline adds are getting so big you can’t scroll the page without launching the ads webpage.
Finally the video ads become so intrusive it’s not worth reading the story. I just close the app and go elsewhere.

Some articles don’t open
In the newspaper view, some articles do not open at all, or are very slow to open, with only a spinning circle appearing. Those same articles open fine on the website so it seems like an app problem.
Figure out you online access policies
For the 2nd time in the past 12 months I've subscribed to your online paper. And for the 2nd time I am unable to access any articles, as I'm told I've reached my limit of free access, even though I am logged in.

Love the Inquirer, but…
When will the “listen to article” feature be added to the app? Seems like a total miss. Why would I use the app if the convenience is on the website? As for the listen article feature on the website, for long articles, the page eventually refreshes, stopping the reader feature. And there’s no way to pick up where it left off. I hope you solve that glitch too.

The worst app
This app is an embarrassment to the once great paper. Frequently unresponsive. No wonder a subscription only costs $1.00 a month.

Consistency
The reliability of the e version is inconsistent. Everytime you have a software update there are problems.
Uses too much space
I like the app but it’s taking up all the free space on my phone (32GB), which is absurd. The clear cache button doesn’t work. The only solution is to delete the app.
Storage use is too high
This app over time uses an extremely large amount of storage and provides no way to limit or clear it unless you remove and reinstall.
Memory hog
This app eats up memory more than anything else on my phone. How can an app go to 50G of use after a month?
Great journalism, okay app
Really respect and appreciate the entire Inquirer team for the work they do serving the city of Philadelphia and its neighbors throughout the Delaware valley.

No way to keep the cache small, so it gradually takes over. Please fix.
