Wanted to like it
I just don't think the repeating days work as well as they could and after looking up the ending, I'm glad I saved myself the trouble of continuing. Play the Case of the Golden Idol series instead!

Really good
I’m loving this game, I like the style, characters and gameplay. There is much more to it than the previous reviewer implied. Depending on who you ask about what will further your story and certain items are more important used with certain characters or at specific places/ times. I like the way the story unfolds throughout your gameplay and if you forget something you have another chance to try an outcome the next day. I also love the noir feel to the graphics, music and narration. There are far too few story driven games on iOS let’s support those with originality.

Smart, funny, and just the right difficulty level
I had no idea what to expect. A game based on a 19th-century Brazilian novel? How does that even work? BRILLIANTLY. That’s how. Storyline is updated to the 1930s, and the character arcs and plot points are essentially intact. You’re a detective in 1935 Rio de Janeiro, commissioned by Bras Cubas from beyond the grave to solve his own murder. Move through Rio’s nicer and more sordid districts, interviewing suspects and collecting clues. The catch? You’re in a time loop. You carry the knowledge from previous loops with you, but physical objects don’t survive from one loop to the next. It’s a common trope done really well here. The puzzles and logic are moderate-to-difficult. Add to that the clean, hand-drawn art and top-notch music and sound design, and the result is a masterpiece. This first run took me around 20 hours. I will definitely play this again. Maybe right now!
