Barely passable interface
The tracking capability is so useful, but it’s really undermined by how terrible the app is. It doesn’t distinguish between multiple devices. It doesn’t draw a path between points so you can tell their order. It doesn’t report altitude. There’s no way the people who wrote this app ever use it, because if they were users, they’d find it intolerable and make it better.

Notifications dont work
The app doesn’t ask for notifications, its been this way forever. In the app it says it gives notifications but never asks for permissions to, meaning it doesn’t and can’t

I used this to track my daughter’s location when she was out in the wilderness. I thought it was easy to use.
Pointless app.
You can’t update your checkin or custom messages or contacts. It won’t even direct you to the website where you can. Why does it even need to log into the account? Wow.
VERY Basic
As far as I can tell the app won’t even draw/plot lines between points recorded. I look at all the recorded points and I can’t tell if I was coming or going. Not too difficult if you’re traveling in a straight line but if you aren’t you have to click on each point and look at the time then hunt around for the next point and look at the time/date. For the the cost of the device AND the monthly fee I would except something WAY better.

App stopped working
App won’t load data since the 29th of June. This includes the Android app and the apple app. Tracking works on the web maps but move alerts are not working either.
It saved my dad
my father fell while he was paramotoring, which saved him since it was night and he was injured in the arm, which meant he couldn't pick up his phone! THANKS!
Rewrite this mess off an app please
The devices are great, but the app is not. Keep crashing on latest ios. Please fix/make better.
Crashes
The Spot device is good but this app will not even open on my iPhone. Just keeps crashing and yes, everything is updated on the iPhone and Spot app. As is, app is useless.
May 29, 2024 app no longer works.
Mine worked fine as of yesterday. Today it shuts down a split second after opening. Tried updating my IPhone 13, deleting the app, powering down my phone then reinstalling the app many times, in many different sequences.
My only option now is to use the web based page, which is pretty crappy. I’m online now looking for a different company for my needs.

App now crashes immediately upon opening IOS 17.4.1
Good but couple improvements
I wish you could assign different colours to different devices so when you have several trace units tracking you can tell them apart on the map view and don’t have to change the filters to see what’s happening with a specific device.

Cannot change colors of assets
This would be great if it actually functioned as it should we have multiple assets and the app does not allow for different colors of the assets except on the desk top version. This makes the functionality of the actual tracking nearly impossible to follow as all the assets are the same color.

From the moment I downloaded it never worked.
Not reliable
The batteries that came with my device died in about 10 minutes. App said firmware needed to update but when I plugged the device in it was up to date. Device doesn’t show nor does the history on the app but the location shows on the website. I have yet to figure out how to set text alerts or notifications aside from email. There isn’t an option on the app or the website that I can find and the app doesn’t show up in downloaded apps to turn on notifications.

This app is useless!
I would hope the app would let me setup and configure my spot, change check-in messages, etc while I am on the go. It does none of that. It is simply a viewer - so I can see the messages I already know I sent? What’s the point? Am I missing something here? Looks like instead of an app I have to go to the website and work from there.

Good but needs colour pins!!
We use a set of 8 Spot Gen trackers with the app, tracking DofE expedition teams in the uplands and mountains of the UK while they journey on foot.
The app is good in many ways. However, a couple of things that would really make my life easier when managing 7-8 team out at once
1. Ability to colour code AND number the pin for each device so that I can look at multiple devices at once and determine between them (currently all orange so impossibly).
2. The ability to select ‘show only most recent pin’. Meaning I could just have 8 different coloured pins on screen at once, not hundreds of irrelevant crisscrossed orange ones!!
Please??!!

Website sign up fails to disclose username requirement on safari (eg three letter username sign Ups fail, but no error message is displayed.)

No good
If this was a free service it would still be terrible. It’s not a free service, the app was supposed to be so my family could easily track me. Obviously that hasn’t worked well. Switched to Garmin and threw my spot in the trash.
