Clever concept but boring plot and play

I had played Dad’s Monster House and really enjoyed the style and creativity of that game, so was excited to try this one. The game concept is very creative and some elements are fun, but the puzzles are simple and the story plot, well a bit bizarre and boring.

Do not expect Isoland quality game play

I don’t like to give bad reviews but this wasn’t really a game, rather an interactive story that was hard to follow. It started out having point and click “game-like” elements but they were either rudimentary or too abstract. By the end, it was just a bunch of scrolling to get through the story with random clicks to proceed. It was the same price as the Isoland games but did not provide a fraction of the satisfaction.

The artwork, as always from this developer, is beautiful.

Emotional!

Good grief! Games aren’t supposed to make you cry! This one is really sad, and if you’re quite emotional, or in particular, depressed, I’d stay WELL AWAY!!!

Which is a shame as it is a beautiful game, almost unique in the way you play it, the music is relaxing and the graphics excellent.

It’s just the story! You have been warned!!!!

Don’t do it

Game is painful. Not like the others. This is a train wreck. Horrible, boring, makes no sense. Just painful and I’m deleting it after 5 minutes of my life I’ll never get back. And the $1.99.

Dark, different

A sad nightmare story more than a game. Instead of wandering around different locations you scroll through it more like a book.

No audio

I have no audio for some reason but I love the game

Pretty nice, but confusing

While the game is pretty short and I got really confused with a puzzle or two, but that’s because I’m an idiot. The story of this game did get to me and I was surprised in the end, while at first I wanted a refund after reading some reviews, I’m glad I didn’t.

Not what I expected.

I’m a fan of all of the developers games. I like to see that the team is trying new things and are keeping you captivated and keen for more. I love point and click puzzle games, although I was disappointed with this game. This game is more of a story/novel with very few puzzles that posed no challenge and constant downward scrolling. The story’s are always good and always captivate you along with the unique artwork and creators style of graphics. This will keep you going/reading for a few hours.
I hope that the next game will be a point and click adventure game with a twisted story, that the game is full of items to find and puzzles to solve.
I’m totally looking forward to what’s next !!

Excellent Game

This is an interesting game and fun to play. What good is a game where the puzzles are so hard that you hit delete and walk away confused and frustrated? Do not listen to the naysayers! The game Old Man’s Journey had plenty of critics, but is now considered a classic.

A bit pointless

I’ve enjoyed all Cotton games so was looking forward to playing this. But I didn’t enjoy it at all and don’t really see the point of it. Basically it’s just a story told in a rather convoluted way. No decent puzzles and the different format is just annoying.

Such a poor story....

So many glitch and just want my money back....

Disappointed

The Isoland trilogy, Mr Pumpkin and The Elovator were so much better than this and was so disappointed when I played it..... have always been a fan until now and it looks like you’ve rushed one through here without putting some effort into the puzzles! The puzzles can be completed by a 4 year old and most of the game consists of pointless dialogue that you constantly press quickly to speed through! Only because I love the other games you have done I didn’t give it a 1 star

Boring

Very boring story and very user unfriendly navigation. Does not worth time spent.

Interesting premise but...

Absolutely nonsensical. Not worth your time.

Very creative

I love all the Cotton games and was happy to stumble upon a new one in the App Store. This one is very different from the others. It’s more story based with a few very easy puzzles throw in. I normally don’t like story based games, but this one was very creative with an interesting (but sad) story and it didn’t have long boring dialogue. My only complaint is that it’s super short and took me less than an hour to complete.

Not so good

I absolutely LOVE Cotton games but sadly I didn’t like this one at all.
So much storyline and the puzzles were like an after thought.
I appreciated the different navigation system and the thought that obviously went into the game, but it just didn’t work.
No comparison against games like Isoland and The Elevator.

Do not play this

I love Cotton games, but this was awful. There's barely any game to it - a few very simple puzzles - so it's basically an interactive story. But this story is awful in every way, for no real purpose. Dead kids, adultery, abandonment, betrayal, a horrifyingly traumatic experience, and more. I'm guessing it was supposed to be deep and moving, but the pain just felt manipulative.
