About

What's New in Timelyshot

1.7

August 11, 2026

Everything built around the total solar eclipse of 12 August. NEW: COVERAGE MAP You can now see on the map whether the terrain will let you watch the eclipse from the spot you have in mind. It is worked out from elevation data at 25 metres: the red areas are those where a hill or mountain will hide the Sun during totality. If you pick a point in the red, the app warns you before calculating. CHOOSING YOUR SPOT IS MUCH EASIER One button expands the map to full screen, so you can fine-tune the location and request the calculation without leaving it. You can also drop your point with a tap or by holding your finger down, as on any other map. UNDERSTANDING WHAT YOU WILL SEE The percentage we show is the darkness your eye will actually perceive, not the fraction of the Sun's disc that is covered, and you can now tap it to read why those are not the same thing: at 99 % of the disc covered there is still plenty of light. Only totality is real darkness. THE ANIMATION NOW HAS A CLOCK The eclipse simulation shows the local time at every moment, and you can run it at 1x, 2x or 4x or stop it wherever you like. The moment of maximum is marked. SMALLER THINGS The 12 August eclipse is highlighted in the list so you cannot miss it. There is a shortcut to My eclipses from the section. And the buttons and wording across the whole eclipse section are clearer. FIXES Fixed the bug that prevented deleting your account from within the app. Thanks to everyone who wrote in to let us know.
