What's New in ToonSquid

2.0.25

July 29, 2026

- You can now select, move, copy, paste, add and delete keyframes across multiple animation layers at once. - You can now customize how long you need to touch and hold a selection of keyframes before they can be moved under "Settings > Gestures > Keyframes > Drag and Drop Hold Delay". The default duration has also been reduced from 0.5s to 0.3s. - Added the option to automatically hide layer properties without keyframes in the timeline. ("Settings > General > Keyframes > Only Show Properties with Keyframes"). - Added a "Step" value setting to the easing curves (where applicable) which allows you to reduce the interpolation rate of the keyframe animation. - You can now proportionally stretch a selection of keyframes in the timeline. - You can now reverse a selection of keyframes in the timeline. - You can now copy, paste and delete keyframes from multiple selected properties at once without the other properties getting deselected when bringing up the actions menu. - Added a setting for always showing the keyframe umbrella row in the timeline for quick selection and copy and paste of all properties of a layer. ("Settings > General > Keyframes > Umbrella Row Visibility"). - The keyframe selection now remains intact after dragging and dropping keyframes to a different frame. - Improved Shape Assist accuracy for ellipses, curves and polylines. - Fixed an issue that could sometimes prevent projects from being duplicated. - Fixed an issue that could sometimes prevent project backups from being imported. - Fixed the liquify tool to respect the "Drawing Assist" setting of the drawing guides. - Fixed an issue that could sometimes cause crackling audio. - Fixed the transform tool's flip behaviour when the parent hierarchy of a layer is also flipped. - Fixed a bug that could cause a brush's dual brush settings to be lost when imported under rare circumstances.

Amazing, Really good

This is an amazing app their is so many effects like warping for tweening and animating you’re png drawing layers but im somone that uses a lot of layers and whenever im just trying to zoom out the app thinks im trying to touch a layer and it gets annoying and when sometimes it adds keyframes if i could turn off edit layers by tap it would fix the issue

Changes needed

, please add an out in, keyframe ease. And please add a feature to stitch animations projects together in a single timeline, or to play multiple animation projects in a row or export things as one, much more efficient uploading for full long projects

I WOULD WRITE 0 STARS IF I COULD

To start it broke after 20 minutes making me have to restart the ENTIRE DRAWING just from clicking one button ONE! YEA ONLY ONE THEN THE ONLY WAY FOR IT TO LET ME DRAW ANOTHER THING WAS TO DELETE MY DRAWING OF DELETE MY DRAWING NOTHING IN BETWEEN. but at least your able to import pictures into the app that’s the only good thing about this entire app btw. So in conclusion don’t download apps just because they’re the first result you find in a google search.

Quantity over quality

It’s good and all but it lags a ton and is not even close to being beginner friendly, the tutorials didn’t help at all and it would be better if they went more into detail.

Best animation software on iPad..

Love this app.. I think a helpful feature would be the ability to keyframe the visibility of each layer.. (the on and off state of the eye icon) I mean a workaround is to keyframe the opacity…. But this app has everything

FAQ

What kind of animation can I create with ToonSquid?

ToonSquid supports both traditional frame-by-frame animation, allowing you to draw each frame by hand, and keyframe animation. Keyframing enables you to automatically animate layer properties and effects over time, creating smooth and dynamic motion.

What are the brush capabilities in ToonSquid?

The app features a state-of-the-art digital brush engine with over 60 customizable settings. You can use vector brushes for sharp strokes at any zoom level, take advantage of Apple Pencil pressure and tilt sensitivity, and even import Adobe Photoshop brushes.

How does the layer system work in ToonSquid?

ToonSquid offers a flexible layer system that allows you to define the order and length of animation elements. You can organize layers into groups, use a camera layer to control the visible portion, mask layers, and apply 27 industry-standard blend modes for compositing.

Can I create character rigs and complex animations?

Yes, ToonSquid allows you to create character rigs using bones with inverse kinematics constraints. You can also create custom meshes to deform pixel layers within these rigs and animate perspective and warp effects for more complex animations.

Is ToonSquid compatible with other software?

ToonSquid is designed for iPad and leverages Apple Pencil and the iPad Pro display. It also supports importing SVG files for vector shapes and can import Adobe Photoshop brushes, allowing for some integration with other creative workflows.
