About

Built for those who venture deep into the wild. Whether you're tackling rugged mountain bike trails, hiking remote mountain peaks, or exploring on skis, Track the Wild delivers professional tools without the premium price tag. WHAT YOU GET No ads. No nag screens, no push notifications begging you to upgrade, no dark patterns. Just two tiers: a free version that's genuinely useful, and Trail Blazer at around €1/month. Nothing else — no higher-priced plans, no constant pressure to pay more. • GPS track recording with configurable accuracy per activity type • Offline maps — download any region, explore without mobile data • Route planner — find, follow and navigate real trails on the map; plan on your phone or on any computer via the web dashboard • Apple Watch companion — live map, recording controls and stats on your wrist (actively in development, more features on the way) • Live Share — let friends and family follow you in real time; they see your location, battery level and saved waypoints on their own map • Elevation analytics — gain, loss, profile charts and intelligent filtering • Waypoints and pins — mark and share points of interest • GPX, KML and KMZ import — bring in your existing tracks individually or tap Open With on any ZIP — from Files, WhatsApp or email — to batch-import hundreds at once • Apple Health Activity Import: Seamlessly import existing outdoor workouts directly from the Apple Health app into Track the Wild, keeping your entire historical training log consolidated in one place. • Cloud Radar layer — see live precipitation and storm fronts overlaid on the map • Real Cell Coverage — community-mapped signal data, built by Track the Wild users recording in the field; see exactly where connectivity drops before you leave the pavement • Contribute to OpenStreetMap — unlike most trail apps that take data from OSM but give nothing back, Track the Wild lets you add missing trails and POIs from the field, or from home after recording a track. Your edits live in your OSM account and appear in every app that uses OSM maps, once submitted through Track the Wild. • Plant, mushroom and insect identification straight from the trail • Cloud backup — all your tracks, waypoints and app settings, encrypted and safely stored in the cloud. Essential when switching to a new phone: reinstall Track the Wild, log in, and restore everything in seconds. • My Trips — automatically organise your travels by country and region; export beautifully overlaid photos showing the stops and places you visited on each trip • 3D Flyover Video — generate a cinematic flyover of any recorded track with your waypoints and photos overlaid on a 3D map; pick a background music track before rendering • Clean exports — photos with elevation charts overlaid, watermark-free for subscribers • 30+ activity types: hiking, MTB, motorcycle, skiing, kayak and more * Some features require an internet connection. TRAIL BLAZER — €1/MONTH Unlock unlimited offline maps, Apple Watch companion (actively in development), cloud backup, route planner, plant & insect identification and watermark-free exports. Track the Wild is free to use — but free to use is not free to run. Servers, infrastructure and continuous development have real costs. Every Trail Blazer subscription goes directly toward keeping the app alive, improving it, and making sure it stays free for every explorer who can't or won't pay. If you get value from it, subscribing is the best way to support it. Terms of Use: https://trackthewild.ro/terms

What's New in Track the Wild

1.5.5

October 23, 2026

NEW • 3D Slice photo card: a top-down 3D view of the terrain your track crosses, with your stats, title and date. Choose from four themes: Pine, Paper, Granite and Mist. Find it in Share > Photo Card after you upload the track. • HUD + Route photo card: your waypoints now appear on the glowing route, with their names placed so they don't cover the track. • Track details: a new Follow button on the map lets you follow a track without going back to the main map. IMPROVED • Recording: if iOS closes the app in the background to free memory (for example while you take photos with the Camera), your recording now continues automatically instead of being saved and stopped. Requires location access set to "Always". • Map Card: sharper satellite imagery, smaller waypoint pins, and labels that no longer cover the route. • Shared images are now named after your track, e.g. "Track the Wild - Map Card - Vf. Suru.jpg". • Identify: new flat mushroom icon. FIXED • Import: the saved track keeps the name shown on the import screen. Waypoints keep their notes, elevation and time, and tracks without timestamps get their real duration. • Photos taken at a waypoint are uploaded with its location and time, and stay linked to it on the website. • Photos without a location now show a "location off" icon, and their capture time is still saved. • Map Card: waypoint and START/END pins now point exactly at their location.
