Out Of Touch With Pandemic Impacted Nursing Students
We have had MINIMAL time in a clinical setting with COVID raging through the hospitals and the SNFs.
The developers/ customer service rep are oblivious and out of touch with the morphing and evolution of the nursing learning environment. To make a blanket statement after FIVE COVID impacted semesters that nursing students are in a clinical setting is beyond ignorant.
I have used this app for three semesters, including the current accelerated summer semester. Due to the lack of facility clinical’s we are on campus in small 6-8 student groups for skills, labs and simulations. Every student has their laptop open and working on it during our clinical replacements on campus, socially distanced. A majority of the students in my labs & simulations were frustrated with the lack of crossover between the app and desk/laptop access. The limited clinical time has been in block’s 3 & 4 - NO clinical time in block 1 & 2. The breakdown is 24 hrs block 3 and 36 clinical hours in block 4. This review does not include the frustration expressed by the instructors.
1)You have to log into your desktop in order to acknowledge the instructor feedback, however, you are unable to do that on the app.
2)On the app you can see the skills and everything else that you need for your block however that is not available on the desk/laptop.
3)You need to send your completed competencies VIA the APP to yourself via email and then do what your college requires for uploading. You are unable to run this report from your desktop login.
4)The customer service chat is not like any other I have utilized. There are no cues that show someone is typing in the response on the desktop version (I do not know if it does in the app). Typically if a cue is present when one of the participants is typing a response it lets the other know a response is pending. This may help decrease condescending snarky remarks from customer service!
5)There are no notifications via the APP if you do not close out a session or if an instructor has submitted any form for review.

TracPrac is a solution with many features for digital clinical communication and evaluation and replaces paper assignments in addition to clinical attendance. We offer shorter subscriptions - $116 covers the schools entire nursing curriculum. *Length of use is based on number of clinical courses.
