I just loved Twitterrific

Now that Elon has killed API's for this app, I'm hoping that the wonderful folks at the Iconfactory will make a Mastodon app for iOS and macOS - I'd gladly subscribe. The Twitterrific experience was like no other for Twitter. It was fun, engaging, personal...it made you love Twitter.
I've been using the first-party app to check in, and it's nowhere near as enjoyable. I want to read those that I follow, but in a way that I enjoy.
R.I.P., little Ollie. Maybe you'll live on as Tooterrific, Olliphant, or something completely new. You were, and will always be, the best. 🐦

iPad version glacial update

Use both the iPhone and iPad versions and the latter takes as long as 8 minutes or so to download new tweets to my feed, even after having used the app earlier the same day (my normal use is 2-3 times daily). Phone version is never more than 1 or 2 minutes to update. Additionally, cannot leave the app or allow iPad to sleep, or the refresh quits, although I would guess that is due to stringent iOS memory mgmt and out of the apps hands. Means I cannot do anything else on iPad or just set it aside until feed is updated. Marker also no longer syncs between devices.

For a while deleting and reinstalling the app would cure the issue for a day or so but that became tiring.

Behavior predates Musk burning down the barn, so not a Twitter-side issue. This is my only complaint, otherwise love the feature set and performance. 5 stars if I was only using iPhone app.

Great App! A Little Slow

I have the one-time, paid version and I appreciate this app allows that option rather than forcing me to subscribe as I’m not able to commit financially to yet another subscription.

My only complaint is that the app seems to be very slow when opening the Replies/Thread view when loading the replies or thread items. Incidentally, search results populate at an extremely slow speed if at all which is really annoying. I end up waiting so long that I just usually close my search and use the native Twitter app to do it. If these speed issues were fixed this would be a total 5-star experience.

Really nice app, but with a couple issues

I started having issues with the official Twitter app not showing me tweets. I’d leave the app overnight, and then opening it in the morning, it would hide all the overnight tweets under a “show more tweets” button. It’d go from 8h ago right to 10m ago with everything else hidden. Super frustrating, so I needed a different app.

Twitterrific shows me every tweet! I could be off the app for a day, but then I can open it and have 700+ tweets waiting for me.

My issues/requests (and sorry if these are already available, I’m still new to the app):

1.) When I open a tweet to read replies, they take for-ev-er to load. 75% of the time, I just close the tweet and don’t even bother reading replies. Same issue when going to someone’s account. Takes forever to load their timeline.

2.) I wish there were different ways to sort replies. Official Twitter’s algorithm could be annoying with how they showed replies, but sometimes (actually, a lot of times) I don’t want to see them in order of most recent. I’d like to see them in order of most liked or oldest or…. etc.

3.) It’d be nice to see the RT/like count without having to tap on the tweet.

I like that I don’t see promoted tweets in my timeline. And the ad banner at the top isn’t distracting at all for me. Maybe I’ll eventually pay to remove it, but so far it hasn’t been annoying me.

This app could be a perfect 10 with just a few tweaks!

Ok at best, annoying at worst

Title says it all. This lets you see your Twitter stream, however it also has a tendency to reset the point in the stream to over a month in the past requiring a lot of scrolling to read the latest tweets.

Update:

Disabling the option to sync reading position appears to have fixed this. I only have the one device so it appears to have at some point decided to somehow decide to change how it identifies itself, and for some awful reason this app appears to sync everything to the “device”that hasn’t been used rather than the most recent? Pretty terrible decision there.
