About

Salary Calc works out your real UK take-home pay for 2026/27 — and, unlike every other calculator, it can read your payslip to do it. Point your camera at a payslip or P60 and the app reads it on device: basic pay, tax code, pension contribution, with salary sacrifice detected from the wording. You confirm what it found before anything is applied. Nothing is ever uploaded. Open the app and there's one input: your salary. A live take-home figure sits underneath it, per year with the monthly equivalent, updating as you type or drag the slider. Everything else that changes the number is something you add only when it applies to you. No checkboxes to un-tick, no fields you have to know to ignore. BUILT FOR THE TRAPS NOBODY ELSE MODELS The £100k personal-allowance taper — the 60% band — is modelled exactly, and the marginal-rate visualiser draws it so you can see where your next pound actually goes. So is the High Income Child Benefit Charge, and the £100k cliff that takes tax-free childcare and 30 free hours with it. Pension can be modelled as salary sacrifice or relief at source. Benefits — car, medical, gym — can be sacrifice or a net deduction, each with a "true cost to you" figure showing what it really costs after tax. ADD ONLY WHAT YOU NEED Pension, bonus or commission, benefits, student loan (Plans 1, 2, 4, 5 and the Postgraduate Loan), tax code and year. Drivers are removable, and their values are kept underneath — re-add one and it's all still there. ACCURATE WHERE IT COUNTS Numeric, flat-rate, no-tax and negative-allowance K tax codes. M1/W1 non-cumulative handling. National Insurance across all bands. Tax years from 2023/24 to 2026/27, kept current as rates change. Switch between annual and monthly views, pick the month, and fold a bonus into it with the correct cumulative maths. COMPARE SCENARIOS Save profiles — current job, new offer, more pension — and switch between them. Or freeze your current position as a baseline and watch how a change to salary, pension or benefits moves your take-home, PAYE, NI and pension, line by line. The pay-rise calculator shows what a rise is worth after tax, which is rarely what it looks like. ASK SIRI, OR CHECK FROM YOUR LOCK SCREEN "Hey Siri, what's my take-home on £62,000?" Shortcuts and Spotlight work too, and they run the same engine as the app — never a second, simpler sum. Lock Screen and StandBy widgets keep your take-home a glance away, and the home-screen widget is configurable. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Every calculation and every payslip scan happens on your device. No payslip image, salary, or input is ever uploaded. The only network request is the optional list of other Indy.inc apps, which sends nothing about you. SALARY CALC PRO The whole calculator and every driver stay free, for good. Pro unlocks the Insights tools with a one-time £4.99 purchase, after a 7-day free trial: a Payslip & P60 checker that flags a wrong tax code, mis-paid tax or NI, or a refund you may be owed; a salary-sacrifice optimiser to escape the 60% trap or keep child benefit; a target take-home solver; the marginal-rate visualiser; and year-to-date tracking. One payment, no subscription. Salary Calc is independent and not affiliated with HMRC or any government body. All figures are estimates for illustration only and are not financial, tax, or legal advice. Always check your own payslip and consult a qualified adviser before making decisions.

What's New in UK Salary Calc 26/27

27.1.1

September 11, 2026

Built for 2026/27, and for the bands that cost you most. • Marginal-rate visualiser. See exactly where your next pound goes — the 60% taper band above £100k, the High Income Child Benefit Charge, the additional-rate threshold. Drawn, not buried in a footnote. • Pay-rise calculator. What a rise is actually worth after tax, which is rarely what it looks like on the offer letter. • Faster payslip scanning. On iOS 27 the payslip goes straight to the on-device model, skipping a whole OCR stage. Still entirely on your device; still nothing uploaded. • Ask Siri. "What's my take-home on £62,000?" Works in Shortcuts and Spotlight, and runs the same engine as the app. • Lock Screen and StandBy widgets, plus a configurable home-screen widget. • Tax rules now update without waiting for an app release, so rate changes land when they happen. A note on Pro: the one-time unlock is now £4.99, up from £2.99. It's still one payment, still no subscription, and the whole calculator and every driver stay free for good. The 7-day trial is unchanged, so you can try every Insights tool before deciding. If Salary Calc has caught something on your payslip, or shown you a number your old calculator missed, a rating genuinely helps — this is a one-person app competing with ad-funded ones. Thank you.
