In the interest of being clean and correct, it’s often confusing and inefficient.
Blocked from purchase
Annoyingly I’m being blocked from purchasing this app. I’ve tried multiple times on different Apple devices. It says I have no previous purchases to restore, however, when I attempt to pay for the app monthly or yearly it reports that I’m “not eligible for this offer”, assuming that’s in reference to the included 7 days trial. Here’s my problem, I’m happy to purchase without the trial, but there’s no option to do this. I’ve tried contacting their support services multiple times. It’s frustrating because I don’t want to have to look at alternative apps, but I’m starting to think I have no choice!

A Great Writing Experience
After some initial teething problems with sync, which Support worked through with me, Ulysses is now where I write. It’s brilliant. No need for any other apps.

Ulysses is an amazing app and I use it every single day. I write thousands of stories and it keeps them all where they’re supposed to be! I really love using it.

Best writing app on Mac. I use it to write all my novels, and short stories. 10/10 recommend.
The one app to rule them all
The best moment in long form writing is where I fall through the page, convene with my characters and the keys can’t keep up. Ulysses is the only place on iOS or Mac where that happens for me. Its magical. Seriously, all my thinking goes here. All my drafting. All my reviewing and editing. I’ve yet to find something I need as a writer it doesn’t do, and yet what I don’t need is never in the way.

Page Menu’s
Ulysses is a great program, but we spend to much time going back to look up what or how to type codes. It needs to be more simple. Tools to use such as “bold-underline-italic-font size” and others need to be more accessible. This program would be more effective and useful if it had actual page tools on a screen menu, or even a menu and layers like procreate, where you can use the tools per page….or like a word program where you can click on the necessary tool. The pages need viewable and usable tools.

This is basically an Apple Notes clone that you have to pay to use. The utter absurdity of this would be funny if it wasn’t so pathetic.

Used to really like this
I used to really like this app but the new liquid glass update looks terrible and feels awful to use. There's no good way to properly customize the look or the settings so that it doesn't take you back to the library page every single time and it's really solidifying my contemplating jumping ship as its about the only reason I was considering hanging on to apple

Ulysses aus Ithaka… ähhh … Leipzig.
Ich bin seit 2021 an Bord mit Ulysses und sehe bisher keinen Grund zu meutern. Die App ist sehr übersichtlich und intuitiv gestaltet, dazu läuft sie im Bezug auf Synchro und Leistung stabil. Regelmäßige Updates enthalten meistens gute Features, „Verschlimmbesserungen“ kamen meiner Wahrnehmung bisher nicht vor. (Die seltenen) Probleme im Betrieb können mit dem Support schnell und anstandslos bereinigt werden. Wer sich in der App zuerst zurecht finden muss, kann im einen ausführlichen und verständlich geschriebenen FAQ auf der Hersteller-Seite nachschlagen. Das Schreiben selbst( in Markup) ging mir, der vorher ausschließlich mit herkömmlichen Editoren gearbeitet hat, sehr einfach von der Hand. Ebenso die Ausgaben der Texte in vorgefertigte Formate. Content lässt sich problemlos durch Ordner, Filter (Smart Folder) und Schlagwörter sortieren. Für längere Texte ist die „Projekt“-Ablage eine gute Option. Die Korrektur und Stilprüfung machen jeweils was sie sollen, ebenso die integrierte K.I. Letztere ist nice to have, ich nutze sie persönlich kaum. Das Einzige was mir bei Ulysses bisher fehlt, ist eine Referenz- bzw. Zitatdatenbank. Ich horte über 973 DinA4-Seiten an Zitaten samt Quellenangaben… und würde diese in Ulysses gerne einfacher lagern und verwalten. Ich hoffe ebenso auf Weiterentwicklungen bei der Darstellung und Funktionalität von Tabellen und Mathematischen Gleichungen. Auch die Möglichkeit pdfs zu integrieren wäre nice. Summa summarum bin ich mit Ulysses sehr zufrieden und kann die App nur empfehlen. Am Preis-Leitungsverhältnis gibt es von meiner Seite keinerlei Beanstandungen. Hoffentlich bleibt die Anwendung uns lange erhalten und kann sich auf dem Markt weiter durchsetzen. Mit diesem Ulysses über die Weltmeere zu irren, macht einfach zuviel Spaß.

Says no IAP but this typewriter is $40 a year. To me thats too damn expensive. If im going to pay for an app I’ll use scrivener or pages. I dont see why this costs what it does.
Billing
Interesting how when y getting into the app, it explains that it will notify before charging for the app. I appreciated this gesture and then decided to try for the week sample use. I was not notified or given the chance to decline the charge(s). Will no longer care to use the app now. Woulda. But you didn’t hold up your end of the agreement. Oops.
