Really nice!

I really like this app. I was given an iPhone 6 that I use like an iPod. Unfortunately, Audible’s app will no longer play on it. This is a more than adequate replacement. The only improvements I would like to see are an automobile mode similar to Audible’s app and a bookmark feature.

Almost perfect - please add gapless track playback!

I listen to a lot of audio dramas, and this app is so nearly perfect for sorting and listening to those dramas that, for one reason or another, don’t have an app of their own. One little thing keeps it from perfection - a lot of my dramas are broken up into individual tracks, so gapless track transitioning is essential. Unfortunately, Undulib lacks this feature (as far as I can tell), resulting in a brief but noticeable pause in the drama as tracks change, which is very distracting. Otherwise, it’s perfect. Please, add gapless track transitioning!

Best Audiobook App & Supports CarPlay

This is my favourite audiobook app! Very simple, not filled with useless extra features and supports CarPlay (which works flawlessly). I'm so happy I no longer need to depend on iBooks in my car.

Perfect

My original review seems to have vanished so I am commenting again. This is what Apple’s audiobook app should be like. Simple and remembers where you left off. It also now has CarPlay. What’s not to like?? A nice addition would be to be able to recall the previous bookmark. I have been known to fall asleep while listening in bed and finding where I was previously can be a mite tedious. Absolutely. Great app, thanks a lot!

Lacking features

Update
The index is hugely helpful, and makes the app much more useable.

Looking forward to further improvements. :)

While I do use this app daily, it lacks features that have me searching for a replacement.

For perspective, I keep over 200 audiobooks on my iPhone.

Features this app needs:
1. Search
2. Index on the right side, as found in Contacts app
3. Condensed list display / ability to turn off cover art in the book list (I.e. show more titles at once)
4. Sorting options (by author, A-Z/Z-A)

Other features that would be appreciated:
1. A way to sort series/show series titles together (folders, tags, ?)
2. Ability to have the book list presented using just the cover art

Response from developer

I really like these ideas! I've just got the index working. I'll for sure be adding the sort options and see what I can do about searching. In regards to sorting series together, I suggest either putting all of the titles into one album or using the "sort album" field in iTunes. For example, I have my entire Sherlock Holmes collection sorted under the "S" section chronologically.

Suits my needs perfectly

Remembers last position even after the app was closed, 30 second seek buttons, decent interface.

All in all an excellent app, it was well worth the purchase considering I was having difficulty finding a good audiobook player.

Great app for audiobooks and drama

I’m a collector of radio drama and have hundreds of old time radio shows I like to listen to. This app makes it easy to do and allows me to keep them separate from audiobooks.

If there was one think I’d like to see in the future is the addition of a CarPlay UI, which is where I listen to my content the most.

CarPlay has arrived! 🚘

Don't waste your time!

Forget about this app being a waste of your money... It's worse, a waste of time trying to figure it out. I never was able to get it to work. I ended up using iBooks. I wish I would have started with iBooks.

Rock solid but too basic

This player has a lot going for it. Clean look, never crashes, handles chapters well, is very nimble and responsive and putting the radio plays in a second tab is a clever secondary feature. Note that I expect you could put any books you like on the second tab as long as you added the tag in iTunes to those books.

Now to the shortcomings. Note that this is my most used Player but these are the things that it really lacks. First, it really needs a swipe forward/swipe back/tap on the artwork for pause/play to make it useful while driving. Looking for the buttons is just too distracting when behind the wheel or when walking in bright sunlight. Second, since the sleep timer is most useful when going to sleep, why is it impossible to see at night after you've taken your glasses off? There has to be a way to make it more visible. In addition, the shake to extend feature is useless to those of us who dock the phone for charging at night. I've suggested better ways that have been used in the past in players. Hopefully some Dev will someday listen :-). The ability to have the entire screen rotate 180 when in a car dash slot or in your pocket would also be very welcome.

All these things aside, it's probably the best $.99 I've spent in a long time. If you listen to a lot of books this is a nice app to have in your arsenal since it's few problems are acts of omission rather than commission. I'm not suggesting it gets bulked up with features like some other better known player but it does need a small set of features added.

Doesn’t import mp3 files

I wasn’t able to import my mp3 files to this app it’s basically useless. Contacted the developer but haven’t heard from him. Waste of money

Response from developer

Undulib only plays files synced via iTunes. If you add your mp3 files to iTunes and then sync they will appear in Undulib. Regarding importing mp3 files via the app, I am considering adding this as an option in a future update.

whaaat?

I like the function and such.
But who the heck said "You know what this sleep timer needs? NOTIFICATIONS! And just for kicks, you can't shut them OFF!" Took me DAYS to figure out where those were coming from, it never even occurred to me it was my audiobook app. Anyway, my main use of audiobooks is at bedtime and having my phone buzz next to my head literally defeats the whole purpose. Back to the search for a good app...maybe back to the basic one onboard iphones.

It sounds like you have discovered the "shake to extend sleep timer" functionality? If you do not like this feature you can turn it off in the settings. Just tap the info icon on the main screen and turn off "Shake to Extend Sleep Timer" in the settings menu. If you have any other questions, feel free to contact me with the contact button on that screen.

A great start

Just started using this app. Right away, it found the audiobooks loaded into iBooks. iBooks doesn't always play my DRM-free books to the end. This app picks up where iBooks stopped.

Does the job

I was hoping for more but given that most others aren't that good either then I guess I can't complain, but I will. It's annoying as I'm still using the free one as I prefer that one (mp3 books). So this was basically a waste of money.
I'm not a huge fan of the way the fast forward/rewind works plus I can't figure out how to skip to the next track / chapter which is crazy.
Also - when i click on the list of tracks it always starts from the top which is a pain if you're 1/2 or 3/4 through a long book and the highlight is very low so I miss it every time when scrolling.
Finally, it didnt take the good order that was set in the playlist which is a major flaw.

Great ab player!

Ever since apple ruined audiobooks with iOS 7, I've been using an iPod nano to get my fix. This was inconvenient since I was already carrying an iPhone. I was quite pleased to find Undulib in the App Store since it fixes most of the problems I experience trying to listen to audio dramas in iBooks. I withheld one star because it would be nice to have the option of a 15 second rewind or perhaps a selection of preset times that can be selected from the options. That's rather minor. The main feature I'd like to see added is the ability to sync playlists. I often mix single cd dramas in a playlist and it would be nice to have those playlists handy right in the app.

Happy with purchase

Great audiobook player & my go-to app (& I've tried quite a few) for enjoying books on-the-go. Had a question & developer was quick to respond to emails as well.

Needs More Options to customize.

I like for me to be able to change skip time beyond 30 seconds

Great idea

A player optimised for the audiobook and audio drama fans out here. How long have I been waiting for this to exist?

Excellent

Great app, but I wish we could speed up stuff that we add in from iTunes.

A brilliant app

Works very well, with an absolutely gorgeous user interface! Couldn't be happier with it.

Waste of money

Works just like iBook (free).
