Less functional copy of Mystery Hike

It does have a couple features Mystery Hike doesn’t in that you can change the fog density to make the undiscovered map completely hidden, and you change the width of the path revealed. And you don’t have to pay to use it at any speed. But it only sometimes shows the percentage of a region that’s been explored (but not the boundaries so you don’t actually know what the region is), it doesn’t show percentage of the world, and there are no mystery places to discover. Additionally, it has a major glitch where random straight lines appear between two points on your line of travel. After only a week my map is covered with all these lines that I didn’t explore. There’s an eraser function so I could fix it, but why do I want to sieve the time? Mystery Hike is a much better app.

We first heard about Mystery Hike after another user pointed out some similarities. They're doing their own thing, and we're doing ours, and we love that. We should be showing the percentage for nearly every city out there, if you have some cases you'd like to shared we can certainly look into fixing/adding coverage. We do actually show a percentage of the world, just zoom all the way out (and don’t be shocked its a very tiny percentage). The random straight lines you're referring to have been something we've been working hard to prevent and have fixed many cases of it. In addition to the eraser you mentioned, there is now a tool called “flagged jumps” dedicated to finding and fixing these. You can find it in the settings. Troubles recording location

A great idea for an app! The first day I used it, I had no troubles recording my location. But after setting my location settings in iPhone to “always allow” it failed to record a big trip I went on last week which was very disappointing. The app lets you manually add roads and paths and I’m tempted to do so for my trip, but how cumbersome and annoying that is. I troubleshot it a bit and I believe you have to open the app for it to record your location; which is misleading because i thought the always allow location setting would permit it even when the app isn’t open. But overall a great and fun idea for an app, no ads, the free version does everything I need it to, and the premium version is pretty cheap. (2$ a month, or 10$ a year) seems like a passion project and not a scummy app trying to empty your pockets.

Barely usable

The first two days, I had fun, enough to fall for the premium purchase, but I wish I tested some more. Today, the app drained 44% of my battery within 5 hours. If that’s not bad enough, the app is also not reliable. If you don’t open it every once in a while, it stops registering your travels. Now, I realize this one’s on iOS and not on the devs, but so what? It makes the app unusable either way. I just wish I didn’t spend money on it.

Love watching the map appear as I explore

NewRoads makes exploring my neighborhood and city so much fun. I use it to track my “hot girl walks” and it pushes me to walk just a little bit further every day to clear the map a bit more. The stats and badges with Pro make the data nerd in me happy. Highly recommend.
