Terrible Robot Run App
Do not expect to be treated like a human by these robots. They are in no way preLOADED to handle REAL HUMAN REAL LIFE SITUATIONS. This app should be SUSPENDED PENDING FURTHER REVIEW. Job Apps are supposed to make earning money easier instead these robots complicate very simple matters. REMOVE THIS APP IMMEDIATELY!

Just waste of time
Broken assessment system. I completed the test several times, verified every answer carefully, including the explicit attention-check question, and the platform still failed me with the exact same generic message. There is no support, no explanation, and no way to resolve the issue. Applicants spend time on these assessments and deserve a platform that actually works.

This app goes in circles
I tried signing up and it keeps going back-and-forth to asking me all these questions and I submitted it and I go to the same page again and they make me answer the same questions again I can’t get anywhere and how do you even make an account?
Waste of time
I applied a have so much information. Now I can’t login and I’m told I’m on the waiting list.
Totally Becoming Irrelevant
I started working for upshift back in 2018. I have taken a few years off. Honestly, even back then it wasn’t my first choice for gig work, but it was at least an option. There were several others in the area so if one app was slow, you can just get work on a different app. I miss that.
Within this last year I have been using upshift a lot more. It still a way to get work when pressed, but it has its slow weeks. Which makes it difficult to have a consistent pace. It’s been dead for the last 3.5 weeks. The “available shifts” are not really available. You can apply, but a lot of the companies already have certain workers in mind who they will accept. So it’s unfair because you can actively apply for shift and not be accepted. Lately, I have got accepted for the last 8 shifts that I applied for and I have a 4.9 rating out of 5 stars. The review about the health insurance by Madehjion is true. Their health plan doesn’t cover jack, not even prescription meds but they take out $25/ week which is $100/ month and it’s hard to get them to stop if you opt out of it. I have tried contacting them and they keep saying it’s a 3rd party insurance and their hands are tied. The insurance company has been ignoring my emails and phone calls. Also the app is outdated and I don’t foresee upshift having much of a viable future in the next 2 years. The pay is low and the jobs are lousy.

Hello, yes we do have restrictions on when you can confirm so that the business can accept other available Upshifters. We have to have this in place so that the people who are available can quickly confirm. You are correct that we do not guarantee 100% of the shift amount if you start it but this is very uncommon to do for hourly roles. We guarantee at least half of the shift amount if you start it or are cancelled from a confirmed shift for a non-performance or discilpinary issue less than 24 hours in advancewhich is very different from most businesses that only pay for hours that you actually work.
Waste of time
Spent a good chunk of time filling out the paperwork, doing the onboarding just to be told that registration is not open yet. I understand but why waste hopeful applicants time?
Good for money, employee help
Picking up shifts is cool and all. They add on days even if you didn’t pick up the shift. You can’t cancel the day without cancellation of the whole shift. When you go to the help center they honestly just ignore you. They’re no real help at all. They’ll still take taxes even if you file exempt. It’s okay just make your money and go.

This app is a scam I put all my information in just for it to say no account found
There are Better App Options
Too many rules and 0 chances if you have a family emergency. My grandmother ended up in the hospital and as her only caretaker, I had to cancel a shift to take my grandmother to the hospital (for the first time) 6 hours before it started. There was no one to call to explain, they won’t let you contact the business and I was given a strike. I plead my case with Upshift and they were basically, sorry these are the rules. They don’t care that life happens. I was also cut from every shift from a business I adored working for.

Not a responsible app when you have a emergency
I had a tire blowout on my way to the 2nd day of work and AAA took 4hrs to come to assist me. There was no way of contacting the employer or the app only when the shift was missed did I get an email saying I have 3 strikes I uploaded pictures and video footage from that morning to show the emergency and was still terminated because it wasn’t a medical emergency or no police report. I actually liked the shift and was looking forward to working but this is unfortunate

My phone was stolen so I missed the job I was supposed to work an I wasn’t giving grace because of it an I was kicked off the app even though it was my fault

How the app functions is decent. For me, the customer service is abysmal. You can’t appeal strikes. If you’re mistakenly marked a no show then you’re kicked out of the app. You can’t appeal suspensions. I’m just sending emails to a ghost inbox with no response. There’s nothing to protect the worker when we’re a client of the app as well. Paylocity is a joke, the payroll system

Not Good anymore
I started working for this company back in September. It took a lot of time with the background check they were doing, but it took way too long just to get started. I worked about 20 shifts and barely got paid for them. They started deducting for insurance even when I opted out of it. They don’t have a phone number where you can talk to anyone; you’re always talking to a robot, even if they say you’re speaking to a supervisor. I started to pull away! I don’t play about my money, especially when I do good work! Every place I worked at invited me back, and one even hired me! Not because of Upshift, but because of my work ethic! They charge you fees on top of federal taxes and other charges at the start. If you’re desperate for work, it might be worth it, but I’d suggest going with a different app. This one feels like a scam. I only pick up shifts with them now because I have to pay child support! Overall, Upshift sucks in Cleveland, Ohio.

Fairness
I love the ability to pick up shifts when I want but I do think it’s really unfair to have your reliability rating take a hit if you have to cancel a shift like even a week ahead. I’ve never canceled a shift even close to 24 hours before but last week I fell and broke my hip, canceled a shift for this week and now I’m rated low. It really sucks.

This place wants you to accept workplace toxicity as normal. You can tell just by the options from the questionnaire. Good luck to whoever wants to use this as a source of income. Don’t forget your dignity.

At first I thought it was going to be promising, steady, worthwhile work. Any job I’d showed up to had no idea who Upshift really was or what they stood for or did. The places I worked at were great, with wonderful people. Upshift acted like they cared at all until there was a situation that made it entirely clear that the do not care about their workers at all. The neglect for what’s right, laziness and ghosting when they really should have showed and cared. I’ve heard ONLY other people agreeing and letting me know this is the WORST app for this kind of work, and unreliable and careless of staff. Yikes! So embarrassing for Upshift

Don’t bother
If you live in Nashville, Tennessee, you can forget about downloading this app at all. They don’t even offer anything out here in addition to that Upshift itself isn’t even in this part of Tennessee at all.
Truthfully sucks
What do u have to do to get a job posting? You can’t even get on the app let alone go to work! Take some notes from Instawork Veryable and traba cuz the extra bs you have people doing just to work through you all is very gate keeping

Tried 3 different times to set up an account I answered all questions put In my personal info, then when I used my log in info to sign in it it won’t allow me as if I never created an account
