What's New in UpTakes Sports Video Camera

4.0.1

August 24, 2026

Cooler, faster, and steadier through a long game. - Heat, handled automatically: standby now steps in sooner as your phone warms up, so it stays cool through a full tournament. On by default, no setup. - See it at a glance: your phone's heat level now sits at the top of Settings. Tap it for what the colors mean. - Faster takes: recording starts instantly when the camera is already running, and in good light, instantly out of standby too. - NEW, Wait for Camera to Adjust: an optional setting for gyms and other low light. Holds each take a moment so the first frame is sharp. Off by default. - Video now starts in HD. 4K and 60fps are still there in Settings whenever you want them. - Battery & Heat Saver moved up in Settings, with finer standby timing. - Stability fixes, including a rare crash when changing frame rate.

Must HAVE APP!!

I was always fumbling for the record button and missing the highlights. A guy at a tournament told me about UpTakes so I gave it a shot. You just raise your phone toward the field and it starts recording, lower it and it stops — took me a game to actually trust it, but now I don’t even think about it. What surprised me is it has you keep or toss each clip right after you film it, so by the time we’re walking to the car the highlight reel is basically done and I’m not sorting through an hour of footage that night. Would recommend to any sports parent.

Response from developer

Thank you — this is the review every developer hopes for. “Took me a game to actually trust it” is the most honest thing anyone has said about UpTakes; that first-game hesitation is real, and it’s why the trial runs a full 30 days. Glad the walk to the car is now highlight-reel time instead of sorting time. If you ever want something added or changed, open Settings in the app and select Email Support — it reaches me directly and I read every one.

Functional.... Needs a how to section

**Update 2** It's a good app & really funstions well. Suggestions from me to make it even better is to have a pause mode for video the other would be to incorporate Action Mode, don't know if it already does

*Update* After using the app for 2 weeks, I like using it, still debating if it's worth paying a subscription especially when I don't really see what your paying extra for on top of just purchasing the app, there's no cloud storage or anything except use of your iPhone camera.... Time will tell

It's a good app, it's simple enough to use but can use a little explanation on settings & features. I also don't see what you're subscribing to, I'd gladly buy the app because it works as advertised but what am I paying yearly for??

Response from developer

Thank you for the honest feedback — both points are fair. A short tutorial covering settings is something we are building toward; your review just moved it up the list. On what you're paying for: continued access to the app itself. The 30-day trial gives you every feature, and after that, an annual or monthly subscription is required.

Won’t Open

I used this app at grandsons baseball games now it will not open when I select it.

Response from developer

Thank you for using UpTakes at your grandson's baseball games — that's exactly who we built this for, and I'm sorry it stopped opening for you. Please make sure you are using the latest version. If you navigate to UpTakes on the App Store and an update is available, try that first. If that does not resolve the issue, it is most likely tied to your specific device. If you could email info@uptakes.app with your phone model, I'll dig in and push a patch as fast as I can. I really appreciate you taking the time to flag this.
