Though the categories could be confusing, and the app did not have information for quite a few lesser-common foods, it was a very good resource and way to double check. Now it is completely blank and i have tried to redownload to no avail, as it seems not to be connected to the corresponding database anymore. Should be fixed.

I had used the app often up until a few months ago it has stopped working. I have reached out to USDA with no response. It probably just needs updates.

This app used to be useful, but it appears that it no longer connects to the USDA recommendations for food safety and storage.

3 out of the 5 menu options are broken / blank. I really am hoping the devs fix this soon, I’d love to have the recommended Use By timelines for food I’m trying to figure out if it’s new enough to be donated to my local food pantry.

Among other things, it doesn’t send recall notifications. In fact, it doesn’t show recalls at all. Notifying of food recalls is a basic government function.

I have used this app before and it worked good. It was a little hard to understand on some food items as to which time frame to use depending on the food and how it was stored, but generally was helpful. I redownloaded the app today to use again for work, and it is blank. I have uninstalled and reinstalled a few times and no go. I can’t see any categories and any search I try to do always comes up “no results”. Please fix!

It appears they’ve abandoned this project completely because the app is not functional whatsoever. Zero results show when you utilize the search function. If you click “educational videos” there are none. There is a categories section and when you click that it shows zero categories. Don’t bother downloading this.

No Longer Works
This used to be a great app; I could type in whatever product I had and it would tell me how long it would stay fresh/be safe to use. I went to use it today and there was only general information; nothing item specific. I don’t know if this is due to changes in the structure of the USDA, but it is a real missed app for me!
