Feel ripped off

I paid for a year of the notification service, but I feel ripped off, it doesn’t work. I understand the lack of control developers have for background apps in iOS. Apparently sync takes so long that nothing ever happens with this app when notified, except the notification counter increments. if you want to use Obsidian, you still have to open this app first, and then when you’re done, you have to reopen this app in order to sync back. At the very least this app should have shortcut hooks so that a user could set up a shortcut to trigger a sync when Obsidian opens and again when it closes. Without that, the sync service is really worthless.

Thanks for the detailed feedback. The counter confirms that a Relay wake-up reached the iPhone, but iOS controls how much background time VaultSync receives. A wake-up may therefore arrive without giving a larger sync enough time to finish. We’re continuing to improve the diagnostics and the experience within those iOS limits. VaultSync already supports Shortcuts through vaultsync://sync. An Obsidian “Is Closed” automation using “Open URLs” starts an immediate foreground scan and sync. We agree that this option needs to be much easier to discover. Please update to 2.0.1. If wake-ups consistently arrive without files syncing, report it at https://github.com/psimaker/vaultsync/issues/new/choose with your iOS version and screenshots of Relay Diagnostics and Sync Issues. App Store reviews don’t include the technical details we need to reproduce and improve the behavior.

Not stable

Worked for once, then stopped with lots of “unexpected error” messages. Sync conflicts all over the vault. While other devices running smoothly (so there is nothing actual problem with the sync itself)

We’re sorry—repeated errors and widespread conflicts are not expected. Since version 1.8.1, we’ve improved error guidance, added warnings for problematic iCloud Drive locations, and fixed a crash-related device identity issue in 2.0.1. The App Store review alone doesn’t contain enough diagnostic information to determine the exact cause or confirm that your case is fixed. Please update to 2.0.1. If the problem persists, report it at https://github.com/psimaker/vaultsync/issues/new/choose with the exact error messages, iOS version, screenshots of Sync Issues, and whether the vault is stored under “On My iPhone” or iCloud Drive. Please keep the conflict copies until the cause is understood. Reproducible reports help us investigate and prioritize further fixes.
