Great guidebook, but too much bloat
Downloaded because it’s the best guidebook for the Dolomites. Fantastic info for that; only recommendation is an in-app translation feature as that’s tricky to do.
The issue is the inclusion of too many features for the subscription price. Training regimen, leaderboard, I don’t need these to just visit a new climbing area. Please break down the subscription model a bit, then the price might be worth it.

It’s just the worst
The hubris of the developers is just mind blowing. Nothing works on this app properly and nothing ever gets updated. Searching for routes doesn’t work, the screenshots of crags in the paid version often do not load. Why do you charge for this? You have no shame…
Gekaufte Inhalte verschwinden
Es verwundert und ärgert mich sehr, dass die gekauften und erworbenen Inhalte ein Ablaufdatum bekommen und nicht mehr zugänglich sind. Ich rate stark davon ab, hier Geld in Kletterführer zu investieren, und werde weiter zurück auf Papier-Kletterführer bauen, die kann ich höchstens liegen lassen, dann hat aber wenigstens jemand anderes Freude dran..

Generally bad
This app could be so much better. It lacks sooo many basic features. You cannot search for climbs at one specific grade only a range. You can not organize boulder by section once you’re in a certain crag and you hardly can even search for crags. Like you go to search a very common area and the crag just doesn’t show up. Not to mention probably ever 2/5x you open the app it freezes. Many people have reached out to the developers to change things but they don’t appear to care or listen. Could be a great app, even better than mountain project.

The app falls behind the website…a lot
I use 8a.nu to log my ascents. To me it is a nice diary to store memories in. For that I use the desktop version, but the app has some problems:
- you cant search for boulder/routes directly in tue search bar: you have to search for the area and improvise from that (usually filtering the available stuff/sorting by grade etc). Super annoying if you want info on some boulder
- logging on the app is only saved on the app. Meaning if you check your profile on 8a.nu you don’t see the ascents logged with the app.
- same with pictures in the opposite direction, you cant see my media on the app if I uploaded it on 8a.nu

Top App! Zwei Verbesserungsvorschläge
Nutze die free version der App jetzt seit knapp 1 1/2 Jahren v.a. fürs Indoorklettern und bin sehr zufrieden.
Zwei Verbesserungsvorschläge:
1. Bild-Upload bei Indoorrouten ermöglichen (Das wäre insbesondere bei Projektrouten hilfreich und klappt momentan noch nicht, auch wenn die Upload-Funktion angezeigt wird)
2. In der Routenübersicht den besten Versuch auch nach mehrfachem Klettern der selben Tour mit türkisfarbenem, gelbem, rotem oder blauem Kreis anzeigen (Derzeit wird ab dem zweiten Versuch nur die Anzahl der eigenen Begehungen angezeigt. Dadurch wird die Routenübersicht unübersichtlicher. Man verliert den Überblick, welche Touren man schon durchgestiegen ist)

Da der passende Kletterführer für unser Urlaubsziel aktuell in Neuauflage ist, bekamen wir den App-Code für Vertical Life. Ich bin froh dass der Urlaub zu Ende ist und ich endlich die App löschen kann.
Was ist da los?! Unübersichtliche Menüs, die App zeigt bei runtergeladenem Content „Wartezeit beim
Laden wegen schlechtem Empfang“, zwischendrin ist alles an Inhalt wieder weg und muss neu geladen werden - kurz mal in das Topo vom Nachbarfels schauen - besser nicht! Achso und wenn man „Pech“ hat, vergisst die App kurzzeitig am Fels bei 1 Balken Netz dass man den Inhalt ja gekauft hat und schmeißt einen ganz raus. Vertical Life - das nächste Mal bitte wieder Papier.

Gekaufte Inhalte werden entfernt
1. alle ursprünglich ohne Ablaufdatum gekauften Inhalte, wurden einfach mit Ablaufdatum versehen und entfernt, auch wenn explizit mit Geld dafür bezahlt wurde.
2. hatte Probleme bei der Bereitstellung des Premium Abo‘s, Support wollte nicht helfen. Hauptsache sie haben das Geld einkassiert und dafür keine Leistung erbracht.

Terrible functionality
It’s clear that this app holds a lot of crag information but it’s close to impossible to find your way around or navigate to the desired areas without knowing the exact name of the crag or route name. I’ve resorted to using the map and just browsing until I find something interesting and it still feels like a shot in the dark. Half baked at best.

Excellent app provides up to date mobile guide book
Vertical life offers great physical book quality topos and information right on your phone. I particularly enjoy the fact that I get to use the actual guide book, and it stays up to date.

Pay twice with vertical life
For years vertical life offered a great digital alternative to have a purchased climbing book on your phone. A few weeks ago that changed where now, even after buying the book which includes free access to vertical life. You have to also purchase a subscription. There is no zero reason to use vertical life over the other online topo apps now. They should have at least Grandfathered existing purchases. I feel cheated

This should def. not be the case. It would be nice if you could get in touch so we can figure what happened to your content. You do not need a subscription to use book vouchers.
Clunky and frustrating
Vague network error messages, even though all other apps work fine. Really annoying UX that loses your place when you go back, requiring you to start over from the home page and re-find what you were looking at.

Content gut aber App sehr schlecht
Liebe Developer,
Bitte fixed mal alle random Abstürze der App und vor allem kann man einfach nicht einen Klettergarten favorisieren. Ich wünsche mir noch eine List in der mal „want to“ abspeichern kann.
An alle zukünftigen Nutzer: holt euch den Führer in Papierform, die App ist es leider nicht wert, solange sie so viele Bugs hat.
Bitte fixed mal alle random Abstürze der App und vor allem kann man einfach nicht einen Klettergarten favorisieren. Ich wünsche mir noch eine List in der mal „want to“ abspeichern kann.

Teuer aber App wird immer besser
Die App ist leider viel zu teuer wenn man meistens eh im gleichen Umkreis unterwegs ist. Dafür reicht ein Kletterführer in Papierform da die App dann keinen Mehrwert leistet.
Was ich absolut! vermisse ist die Möglichkeit Hinweise und Warnungen einzustellen (z.B. lockerer Fels, Neste, Sperrungen etc.) Man muss immer im Internet recherchieren ob aktuelle Meldungen vorliegen.
Aufgrund der beiden Punkte nur 3 Sterne !

The app seems to be focused on climbing social media.
It's easy to see recent climbs of some dirt bagger who's climbing a lot.
But good luck if you want to find someplace to climb, or to log a climb.

Geht so. Vergisst Premium-Abo immer wieder
Hallo, hab die App schon seit Jahren, finde sie eigentlich auch ganz in Ordnung. Aber dass ich, gerade wenn ich sie mal brauche, trotz jahrelangem Premium kein Zugriff auf Premium-Content habe, nervt schon sehr. Bitte löst dises Problem doch endlich, danke!
