Vetus Maps allows you to overlay historical maps onto modern map views, such as satellite, hybrid, or terrain. This helps users find historical sites, lost villages, and navigate landscapes using old cartography.
Key features include the ability to overlay old maps onto modern ones with adjustable transparency, a downloadable map catalog, setting custom markers, recording GPS tracks, and searching for specific locations.
The app offers a premium subscription priced at €14.99 per year, which grants access to all maps for free download and allows importing third-party or personal maps via Dropbox. The initial payment is charged to your iTunes account upon purchase confirmation.
Yes, the historical maps are always available offline. However, an internet connection is required for satellite map views.
Local historians, antique enthusiasts, geographers, and anyone interested in exploring historical landscapes or researching past settlements would find this app valuable for its unique mapping and navigation capabilities.
