About

Vidnip for iPhone is the companion app for Vidnip for Mac. Pair it once with your own Mac on the same Wi‑Fi, and your phone becomes the remote for everything the Mac downloads. SEND LINKS FROM ANYWHERE • Share a link from Safari or any app with the Share sheet, or paste it in the app. • Your Mac detects the videos on the page; when there are several, you pick the one you want by thumbnail, length and quality. • Links you send while the Mac is unreachable are kept and sent the next time you open the app. FOLLOW AND CONTROL TASKS • See the Mac's download tasks in real time: progress, speed, remaining time. • Pause, resume and cancel from your phone. Nothing is shown as "done" until the Mac confirms it. THREE WAYS TO USE A FINISHED VIDEO • Download to iPhone — copied over your local network and verified with SHA‑256 before it appears in your library, so you can watch offline anywhere. • Stream from the Mac — instant playback with seeking, speed control, full screen and AirPlay to your TV; only a small temporary cache is kept on the phone. • Remote control — open the video on the Mac's screen and drive playback (play, pause, seek, volume, speed, subtitles) from your phone. YOUR LIBRARY, ON YOUR PHONE • Play, search, sort, rename and delete local copies. Save to Photos or share to other apps. • Deleting a copy on the phone never touches the file on your Mac. PRIVATE BY DESIGN • No account, no cloud, no analytics, no ads. • Everything happens on your local network over an encrypted connection. Pairing uses a one-time six-digit code shown on the Mac, and you can revoke a phone from the Mac at any time. REQUIREMENTS • Vidnip for Mac 1.7.0 or later (macOS 14 or later, Apple Silicon), available from vidnip.com, with "Allow iPhone to connect over the local network" turned on. • iPhone and Mac on the same Wi‑Fi. Some routers' "AP isolation" setting blocks discovery. • Downloads to the phone run while the app is in the foreground and resume automatically when you return. Vidnip for iPhone does not download from websites itself, has no built-in browser or site parser, and does not bypass access controls or DRM. It manages media on your own Mac.
