Does mostly what it’s designed to do. Could do more.
Installation was easy, but needed Viking Support to help with orientation of the connector. Once installed, it worked great. You can open and close the gate remotely and see the Opened/Closed/Opening/Closing status wherever you are. I was not able to get notifications working, either pops on my phone or email.
I would like smart home integration with Alexa / Google home. This would support both control (e.g. “Open the gate”) and announcements (e.g. “The gate is [opening, closing, blocked, etc.]”.

Connection issues
This app is terrible. The notifications just pick and choose when to work and every so often you have to delete and reinstall the app just to make it connect and work. Love standing out in the snow and seeing the spinning wheel of death as you’re trying to open your gate. Do better Viking, we pay enough for your product.

Functional but very limited
With todays automation and integration advancements , this feels like we are back in 2005 .. at a minimum it needs programmable settings / scenes . I chose Viking brand because of the motor quality based on installer feedback . However, LiftMaster/Chamberlain MyQ app is much more functional and has a TON more accessories

Basic app functions
For such an expensive gate opener the app lacks simple gate opening times and customization that should be able to be done from app. Disappointing for spending such a high price for gate openers. Find some good programmers for your app to function with opener better.
Needs a fix
When I open the app I’d like it to go right to the screen to open and close the gate. For 99% of users that’s the screen we want. It’s the only reason we open the app. Not sure why this hasn’t been fixed yet.
Very Glitchy
Often takes a long time to even open. Have had to delete and reinstall multiple times when it just won’t open at all.
Needs Update
This app used to work great… 4 years ago. There have been several iOS updates since then, and this app needs to be updated to work better. Specifically notification on gate status change and general status in the app is always “closed”.
Seems decent
Purchased the Viking gate opener, all works well outside. The controllers the gate comes with has terrible range. So I opted for the app based entry.
So far the app works for me to open the gate for service people on my property. Connects instantly and no delay on the app to gate. I am new to it and I see other peoples frustration about getting notifications. But that’s why I have cameras with sensors. I don’t use the gate tech for more than what it is… a gate.

The future is here
I had the Viking installed by my local drivegate company for $160 and it has been worth every penny . Being able to monitor the status of the drive gate as well as remotely control it is a game changer. Don’t believe in the one star rating . They didn’t set it up correctly or their Wifi signal is too weak to reach the drivegate . I installed a Wifi mesh extender in the garage and has zero issue .

apps are great when they serve a usable purpose. This should be that. It’s not. such an unstable sad attempt. Get this app over to the high school perhaps they can rewrite the code for you. aghhhh

Works great when it works but I have to uninstall and reinstall sometimes multiple times a week just to get it to work. Viking needs to provide an update and adequate support. I bought their gate operator and system so I could check status and open and close remotely. Just need it to constantly work!! Viking please help!!

PROGRAM OPENED TIMES?!?
I have Mac computers so I can’t program times on the usb stick for my gates, WHY NOT USE THE APP TO MAKE IT EASIER TO PROGRAM OPEN TIME LIMITS.
Constant crashing
When this app works it’s great. But every other week I need to reinstall the app because it will freeze on a loading screen. The only way to fix it is to reinstall the app and log in again.
Works as expected so far
The app (and monitor device) work great so far. It would be nice if this app was HomeKit or Siri Shortcuts compatible though. At the very least, please add Siri Shortcuts support for opening and closing the gate with voice commands and without having to open the app. Voice control using Siri Shortcuts would make the app perfect!
