I used to spend $500 a month on the game because I couldn't play any other way. But I'm quitting because of the Battle for Light competition! Until this competition continues or Light achievements are available for purchase, I definitely won't be coming back!
Unannounced Changes Alter the Game
I have played this game almost daily over the last eight years. While it is like many “freemium” games which offers significant playing advantages to high spenders, over the last six months, they have accelerated this, including altering internal competitions to significantly disadvantage players who do not spend liberally. IMO the game developer has recently made a change that appears to want to drive low/no spending players out of the game entirely. While elements of the game have been fun over the past few years, I can only recommend this game for highly competitive people who do not mind spending hundreds, if not more per month to achieve high status.

My next entry: they just broke the game and are again, lying about it!
They added a new feature Monster Generator (which allows the player to create an invader or ghost on their own.) I believe this feature was introduced without adequate testing because now, no resource lairs are produced when killing ghosts or invaders. These resource locations are the literal lifeblood of the gameplay. When I reported the bug I was told by support that it is the new design change, but other kingdoms are still today posting results showing that their’s are working as expected. Support is lying and not escalating the Fatal Bug!

Well, it would seem to me that they’ve already got my feedback. Although my negative review may have gotten their attention briefly, it is highly unlikely anything different will be done this time - but, I will send a copy of my previously ignored complaint to the address they provided to see.
I will update with any positive changes... If there is no update - then it just means my recommendation given here stands.

After year's of frustrating play, where other players don't honor their agreements, I’d finally accepted that players with bad attitude were just a part of the game I was going to have to accept. What has finally, after several years, led me to post this review has been the consistently bad attitude, Service (servers continually going down, server lag causing one to miss plays or get killed, etc.), and dealing with a company that is fully incapable of even the slightest understanding of what the word Support means. I know a little about the software/server Quality & Support issues, how difficult it can be, and what constitutes “Good Support” having been a Director of Software Quality Assurance for a gaming company, and Director of Engineering Services (which included QA; Technical Support, Training, & Publications; and Release Engineering). I can say, without reservation, that for the money required for you to effectively play at the higher levels (and if you want to quickly succeed at the lower levels) this has to be some of the worst support I have ever received. After several years, I have finally determined (after this final fiasco) that I will play out the value of my accounts, and never again play again afterwards. Waiting for several days for the delivery of crucial purchased resources within the game, being charged for those undelivered items accompanied by a refusal to refund the money, having those items then credited to the wrong account... I am done with it! I was a fool to continue playing. My advice: Don't be a fool and don’t start playing this game in the first place.
