About

A percussionist that listens to your band and plays along. Virtual Percussionist follows the music's tempo and adds shaker, congas, clap, tambourine and triangle to your mix. Analysis happens on your device, in real time, without reading future audio. THREE WAYS TO LISTEN MIXER: the most precise choice for live use. Connect a class-compliant USB audio interface or mixer with an input and an output. IN selects the channel to follow. IPAD: the microphone hears the room. Handy for practice, but more sensitive to noise and distance. If I HEAR MYSELF appears, turn the percussion down or move the device away from the speakers. TRACK: load a file and tap PLAY, including with AirPods. With no file loaded, PLAY starts the built-in demo song. GET STARTED 1. Choose the input in Settings. 2. Set MIC within the fuchsia band. 3. Tap START: with FOLLOW on and START NOW off, the percussion waits for a stable lock. 4. Choose a style or AUTO, then set swing, energy, reverb and levels. STOP silences the part. YOU STAY IN CONTROL FOLLOW tracks changes in the music. FIXED plays at the BPM you set. TAP lets you tap the tempo; ÷2 and ×2 correct the rhythmic level. If the one is off, tap THE 1 IS HERE on the downbeat. START NOW starts the part immediately at the last known or default tempo, even if provisional. PAUSE IF OFF holds back an already unreliable entry and fades out a part that stays in red. METRO selects 4/4 or 3/4. The guide is always in Settings. LIMITS TO KNOW An audible rhythm section is needed. Solo piano, voice, rubato, weak or noisy inputs may cause a slow or inaccurate lock. Tempo may be read at half or double speed; the downbeat may need manual correction. In a long recording, if the next song stays at the previous tempo after silence, tap STOP and then START. Set tempos from 50 to 200 BPM. 6/8 and 12/8 are not recognised. A shorter buffer reduces delay but increases the risk of clicks: raise it if needed. PRIVATE BY DESIGN No account. Audio is never recorded, uploaded, shared or exported. With valid access, playback can continue when the screen locks. For iPhone, iPad and Apple silicon Macs (iPad version). PRO ACCESS Using the app requires an active trial, a monthly or yearly subscription, or a lifetime purchase with no renewal. A 7-day free trial is available to eligible new subscribers.
