Player won’t mirror correctly

When I mirror VLC to my TV, the interface doesn’t display. I only see a black screen. Everything else works fine. I don’t know what’s going on. 🤷‍♂️

Love this player!

In 25 years in existence they have never sold out, even denying 8 figure offers! So it will always be free and be the media player that can play any format you throw at it!

Best media player ever

VLC is super good because it's FOSS and also the mobile app is good

Too much hate

By far the best open source media player ever. If you cant figure out how to use it you shouldn’t even be able to vote.

stellar file format support

not had a single issue with any of my music files, and the app works plenty fine for the most part. however, there are sometimes some issues regarding the reported total duration of longer audio files (such as those around an hour long) and occasionally it will start playing a song like 5-seconds further than the actual beginning of the recording if left to play them on its own through an album. overall though, considering how this app costs nothing and how the devs are constantly listening to feedback, combined with the complete absence of all ads, that makes this the easiest 5* review I have made. thanks for making this for us :3

Perfect

Needs casting and pip

Chromecast/Airplay Issues

Every time I want to play a file and stream to my tv I always make sure the file is compatible to cast but it gives me issues on either not connecting or just streaming the audio only. It’s frustrating to use

Best

Could be better

Useless

What’s the point of this if I can’t even order my playlist

Excellent Alternative to Spotify

While I agree that music apps like Spotify are extremely convenient and easy to use, the constant increase in subscription prices to just play music is getting out of hand. VLC might not be the best alternative, but using that subscription money to buy digital albums and then throwing them in here is great. You can even listen to music offline since it’s all downloaded. Only annoyance is that since all your music is downloaded onto your device, it’ll begin taking up a lot of storage if you have a lot of songs.

Great player for car!!

I use this instead of Apple Music and I absolutely love it. I love that. I don’t have to convert formats so that it will play. It has recently started cutting off the first two seconds of every song I play, however. I’m hoping they will update the software to remove that glitch.

Idea: great, Execution: horrendous

When you first take a look, it’s great, it has a queue, playlists, song cover, and so on, but in reality? It sucks,
one time after I updated it, it just deleted all my playlists, and then on top of that, adding songs to playlists sucks, because you have to hold, tap, tap, to add each song to a playlists, and overtime it adds up to a lot, why can’t we just select songs and add them all at once to a playlist?
Another bug, is that when I delete a song, sometimes it also just deletes the song that’s playing, ?!!???!? And to make it worse, there’s no recycling bin, so once it’s gone, it’s gone, overall the apps just have lots of bugs,

Perfect and works fine

Thank you for keeping this still free. You’re making history with VLC

Its too slow and unstable.

Just provide the basic stability that any free app has.

App is great, but there’s a bug with Bluetooth playback

I’ve used VLC for years and it’s still my favourite media player on iPhone, but there’s one bug that’s making it difficult to use for Bluetooth playback.

Whenever I play any audio or video over Bluetooth headphones, the first second of audio is consistently cut off. Playback effectively starts at around 00:01 instead of 00:00 every single time I press Play. This affects MP3, WAV, MP4 videos, and other formats. FLAC files don’t seem to have the problem, and slowing playback to 0.75× also prevents it.

The issue does not occur:

- Using the iPhone speaker in VLC.
- Playing the same files through the Files app with the same Bluetooth headphones.

Device details:

- iPhone 15
- iOS 26.5
- VLC 3.7.3
- Soundcore Life Q20i Bluetooth headphones

I’ve already tried disabling hardware decoding and audio time-stretching, but neither changes the behaviour.

I really enjoy VLC and would love to keep using it for all my local media, so I hope the team can investigate this Bluetooth startup audio bug. Thank you for all your work on the app.

I like it, but why is play/pause laggy?

I’ve always loved VLC, so much so that it is almost always the first thing I install on a new computer, and I donate to them sometimes. This is the first time I’ve used it on my phone and it’s pretty good, however it’s kinda bugging me that play/pause is super laggy, like almost one second between tapping the button and the media pausing. Yeah that’s my only gripe with it tho, love ya videoLAN!

When are you gonna update so it doesn’t crash…..

I’ve got to restart the app EVERY TIME I use it!

Otherwise, it won’t work.

So, when the hell are you gonna fix this?!?

Outstanding; minor issues

This app, aside from a few minor inconveniences, is the best media player on the app store. 100% ad free, no 'pro' subscription BS, it has everything I need.

There's only a few minor issues:
- VLC demands metadata for auto-sorting; files without it are dumped into the 'unknown' albums, which is annoying because VLC does not allow metadata editing. It also likes to create a bunch of artist albums for singular songs, which clogs up the artist tab.
- Using bluetooth headphones cuts off the first half second of audio. This is probably the worst thing about the app, as headphone jacks no longer exist on iPhones (real genius move, Apple)

But besides those issues, it is outstanding. This is the only player you need. The pros far outweigh the cons.
