Great app. Easy to
Understand instructions and the exercises are outstanding. I can’t believe how much I have learnt in a month even though I am take very slowly. Very helpful and fun.

Amazing, but I need a thing

Your app is incredibly useful, very simple and clear. I liked a lot the way it pushed me to practice and revise and do it fast. But why this app is not in Google play, I swear there were 4-5 people to who I advised to buy this app but they didn’t have Iphones and they couldn’t. There is literally no analogy in PlayMarket. Please do it and I will be able to give this app to my students

Easiest way to learn

This is a fantastic way to learn music theory. I have attempted learning theory in the past but it didn’t stick. Staying on top of what you have learned with daily exercises is finally causing the information to stick and I can recall it easily when I need it. Use the app and put the work in. It actually works.

Extremely useful

This is the most useful theory app I’ve used, functional theory to help you connect the dots and understand scales, chords and keys

Great way to explore 🎼theory. Helps beyond measure 🤣

Great tutorials, fun and challenging practice exercises, ways to track your progress, this is an exceptional app. The developers really thought this through. I’m super impressed at music theory content.

Violin player

Love program, I learned it all over the world. When ever I had spare time I would continue with the program. I also kept notes as well, so I could look back quickly, if I got stuck.

For the love of music

This app is everything you need to learn musictheory efficiently. The explanations are very simple to understand and not being able to skip exercises annoyed me at first but it really helps with consistency and retention. ( also the video voice is very soothing ). Normally I hate subscriptions but this app is worth it. The prices are totally reasonable and all in all this app isn’t a cashgrab where you have to pay for every course. I feel like the developers didn’t create this app solely for profit but for the love of music and sharing knowledge, which is uncommon these days. Thank you so much <3

Theory Simplified and Exercises Abundant

I tried to teach myself music theory a couple years back through YouTube tutorials and other free online resources, but didn’t get very far. All that to say, I wasn’t very optimistic downloading another app, but thought it’d give it a try.

I sure am glad I did! On the Waay app, the theory is explained, and there are computer generated exercises to memorize the various applications of each concept once you learn it. It has helped me increase my rate of learning guitar by tenfold.

The trial is free and the relatively low price tag for a monthly subscription can be cancelled anytime, once I get to the place I want to be.

Thanks Waay!

The Best

Best app I’ve ever used. Simple great explanations. Very thorough. Recommend to anyone.

This app really does work

I’ve tried studying music theory, I’ve purchased college textbooks. This has all the information the college textbook has, except for it has little activities you can do over and over again to really learn music theory. It has the same information as a college course would have really good at teaching you and much cheaper than college.

Sounds?

I was surprised that the notes in the early exercises don’t play sounds. Wouldn’t it be helpful to start to hear these patterns as well as see them? Seems like an obvious and easy fix. Maybe I just missed something.

Old dog can learn new tricks!

So I have played the drums since I was 12 years old but never learned any proper music theory. And yet, I’ve been pounding away at a piano for most of my life without any foundational music theory knowledge. This app is really talking my language and helping me understand my way around these concepts that have weirdly intimidated me my whole life. Thank you for helping me understand music better! I can’t wait to continue learning more.

Intuitive, fun and informative!

I use Waay on my commute and found it really helpful in developing my theory knowledge. I’ve played sax for a while, mainly using sheet music. Waay put theory in approachable language and then helped me use them for song writing and jamming.

Thanks Waay!

Excellent app!

I’ve been running into walls in learning this kind of music theory for DECADES. This app has made it make sense to me and provides the practice exercises I’ve been looking for. Thank you!!

No free content

I downloaded Waay to see what it’s like before committing to pay the quite expensive subscription fee. Unfortunately there isn’t a single content lesson (there is a “welcome lesson” that says hello) where you can view what the actual design and formatting of the learning looks like. In music the mode of instruction is really important so I was hoping that I could at least get a sense of that before committing quite a high subscription fee. Waay might be a good app- but it’s not transparent and I’m always suspicious of places that want your money but don’t show you what you are buying ahead of time. Please just add some example lessons at a couple of different levels!

Response from developer

Hey, the first seven videos/exercises are all freely available: you just need to finish watching the Welcome video for the next lesson ("Notes and Steps") to appear. (Each lesson builds on the content in the previous lesson, so each lesson/exercise becomes available in order.) Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, either through the app or at tenkettles.com/contact, always happy to help. And once you discover all the free, available content, please consider updating this review with your new impressions. (Especially as an independent developer, I do want to make sure everyone's getting the right idea about Waay.) Thanks! -Alex

Is it cheating to use your notes for the quiz?

Incredibly powerful but pricey

This was one of the best choices I could’ve ever made to finally get through music theory. The app is extremely well made, the structure easy to follow and the practice space piece meal enough to stick to it. The only sad part is the pricing model because I just can’t stand these overpriced subscription models. This meant that I had to power through the app and ditch it as soon as possible even though I would’ve preferred to keep practising every now and then. Other than that, a great choice.

Genuinely very good

I was skeptical of the reviews because they’re all super positive but I get why. Great app, simple, effective, easy to use, and makes theory very clear. I don’t work there and I’m not a bot, I just want to support the developer for making such a good app with such an extensive free version!

Too expensive

Content is nice, if not a bit dry. Subscription is waay too expensive though. I’d subscribe if it was a bit more reasonable.
