About
Japanese sweets do not combine on their own. When two of a kind end up side by side, the cluster is outlined with a pulsing gold ring. Press and hold on it, watch the ring fill, and knead the whole cluster by hand into the next sweet. An azuki bean becomes konpeito, then dango, daifuku, manju, dorayaki and on up, all the way to a grand kagami-mochi.
THE KNEAD IS THE GAME
Dropping a sweet only sets out an ingredient. Nothing rises a tier until you knead it. A cluster of six becomes three in a single press, so the craft is in gathering sweets together before you work them. Kneading costs you no moves at all.
YOUR SCORE IS YOUR CRAFTSMANSHIP
Points come from how many sweets you fold into one knead, and from how tightly they were packed before you did. A wide, scattered cluster scores poorly. A big, snug one scores beautifully.
TWO TOOLS THAT SHAPE THE BOARD
Tap the uchiwa fan to select it, then drag across the board to send a gust through the pile. Or tap the chopsticks and drag to lift one sweet you choose and set it down anywhere. Because scoring rewards big, tightly packed clusters, the tools raise your score indirectly, by letting you gather the pile before you knead it. They carry over from stage to stage and between both modes, chains of kneads earn you more, and you can watch an optional ad to refill.
TWO WAYS TO PLAY
Play Orders to fill a sweet-shop request, making the sweet the customer wants within a set number of drops, across 200 stages. Running out of drops is not the end, because the board is still yours to knead. Or play Zen, an endless and relaxing run. Each mode keeps its own gentle pace.
TEN SWEETS, A TIGHTENING VESSEL
Work through ten classic wagashi, from a single azuki bean to a New Year kagami-mochi. As the stages go on, the vessel grows narrower and the warning line sits lower, so each one packs the sweets a little more tightly than the last.
MIND THE LINE
If the sweets stay above the line for about a second, the round is over. Keep the stack low, gather with care, and knead with intent.
