Like the App

I like this app so far regarding the workout and the speaking during the workout. I like to be able to track water and know how many steps I should take to meet my goal. However I don’t carry my phone everywhere I go and the app still isn’t reading steps with the Apple Watch so it isn’t accurate. There was a review a year ago saying this app was working on it. I downloaded the app a year later and was hoping for accuracy and it is still frustrating. Lesson learned to read before making a purchase…

Don't get much unless you pay a lot!!!

I don't know how this app has such a high rating after seeing so many reviews about their misleading charges. Fortunately, this did not happen to me. I had this app on my phone for a while and decided to try it out tonight. I had a good workout and decided to look ahead to see what the next workouts would be. Turns out you only get two days of the workout in the free version and have to pay to get more days. I would consider paying if it was $39/year, but no way is the app worth $119/year. I have now deleted the app.

ETA: Looks like a lot of fake reviews to bring up the overall rating.

I'm not sure what inconvenience you are referring to by your canned reply. I notice you have replied to many reviews a while back saying it is not your intention to mislead people and that you took their feedback and were making changes. Doesn't look like anything has changed based on recent reviews.

Can’t cancel

The app is fine, but I want to cancel the auto renewal. I have been to AT&T and they were very surprised that I could not pull up app and simply cancel. The sent me to the Apple store and they too were surprised that I could simply cancel. They said I had to contact the ME app online. Well, I cannot find contact information. I have auto renewal coming up. At this point I plan to cancel my card. Any suggestions?

New App

I just got this yesterday and I’m still trying to figure out how to use it. How does it know how much water you drink (it hasn’t prompted me to do so yet, even though I set it to do so). How does it count your footsteps during the day (not workout time)? It could use some improvement as far as user friendliness goes, needs to be easier to understand.

Update: I now know how to use it, and it’s exactly what I want as far as what it offers, but it turns out that unless you’re willing to upgrade (i.e. pay money) you can’t access beyond the first 2 days of workout plans. This app shouldn’t be advertised as free when you really have to pay in order to use it. Doing that makes it the app equivalent of click bait.

Hey there, step-counting in iPhones is calculated using some in-built sensors like accelerometers, gyroscopes, and compasses. The co-processor then calculates both step count and activity recognition. We hope this info helps clear the air :) We would be grateful if you sent us some more info on how you are using the water tracker to support@betterme.tips. We'll look into it and gladly answer any questions! Looking forward to hearing from you soon! Best regards, Team BetterMe Walking

Very Deceptive and now I can’t get out

Please accept this review as notification to cancel my subscription. As noted in other reviews it is very deceptive in the manner that you get people to sign up by cloaking your subscription in small print. You answer your reviews by saying you are correcting this but since July you have not corrected and as part of the answer to the review you do not tell people how to cancel the subscription. I am going to also send a note to apple that you are stealing people’s money by using these deceptive techniques. Again please cancel my subscription immediately. This company and its practices needs to be reported to the FBI.

Careful -deceptive UI tricks you into paying $119

The developers purposely have you fill out information and at a subscription screen where you think you’ll have a free trial, they trick you into paying $119 for a 1-year subscription of absolutely nothing because of the placement of your thumb on the home button where you can’t take it back. Canceling the subscription doesn’t refund you and blaming it on a third party app and the fact that they don’t control the payment process is not real. Pretty brazen and they probably make a killing with this fraudulent practice. This app should be reported and removed from the App Store for violation of consumer protection laws and Apple’s terms of service.

Unethical

To many of the review responses, the app developer has mentioned it is not their intention to mislead customers. Yet they still exactly do that - during first time app launch/signup there is no option other than a single $120/year plan. Not even a option to cancel/end the signup process. And the billing information is buried in fine print below the Continue button - at least make it obvious what you are charging customers.

Here is a trick - just kill the app when you see this billing info. And launch the app again. Now it lets you see what the app is about. Not sure how much functionality is enabled in this mode - will report on that later as I use the app for a few days.

BEWARE- this is a scam

I downloaded this “free” app and within a minute of opening it I was going through setup. Basic stuff like weight and height. Then it says let’s get started and takes you to a screen with a few check boxes. One of them says something about getting rid of ads but it’s clearly obscure and no mention of paying anything. Next they are charging you a full year subscription. They have multiple charging options but they go straight for the full yea which is over $100. So no mention they are going to charge and then defaulting to the maximum plan they offer. Obviously they are on a “take your money and run” strategy. On closer look they don’t have anything worth paying for so this is their new business model. AVOID unless you don’t mind being ripped off.

I should’ve read the reviews!

This is a time when reviews really would’ve helped me in the long run.
About 4 days ago, I added DIFFERENT Me. app to my phone.
So I’m confused as to how - This app AUTOMATICALLY signed me up for the year long subscription for $119 or something dollars! Which I would NEVER sign up for. While it charging money out of my account is bad, it’s even worse, THAT I DONT HAVE THIS APP ON MY PHONE.
I signed up for a free trial through the other app, hoping to then see what it was like and do a weekly subscription after that, after realizing it wasn’t for me I went to cancel the subscription TO FIND OUT that this app had already charged me for a full year.
I want a refund and I am extremely appalled that this happened. Definitely don’t think I can trust this company after this.

First Day

So this is my first day using the app and so far I’m impressed. I wish the voice wasn’t automated like a robot though. It would be so much nicer if it was a real persons voice to help with the motivation! But I am winded on my first day of walking and I like to consider myself at least lightly active because I walk everyday but not like this. Lol. I feel great and my legs are tired from this. Very excited to start on my journey to a better skinnier me!

Confusing app

I didn’t get in to the subscription trap referenced in the other reviews but I couldn’t find the Motion setting wherever that is supposed to be. So the walking count wouldn’t even start. It asked me if I wanted to enable this Motion sensor thing and I hit Enable and it opened settings for Siri, which I have no clue why, and notifications, which I checked all fields and none had anything to do with Motion setting and the last one it listed was cellular data which is only an on/off toggle. I tried a search in my phone and it didn’t pull up anything. So no clue but I deleted the app. I’ll try one of the other hundreds of apps available. I’ll do a better job of reading the reviews though before jumping in

Theives in league with Apple

How is this still happening? I got charged $130 while not realizing what was happening like the vast majority of the reviews I just read that have been posted over the last 5 months or so. Tried to get a refund from Apple and they deny it. I would ask Apple to ban them but I think they must be complicit in this scam. Unbelievable. $130 isn’t a drop in the bucket for me. Evil tactics tricking me into paying for a crap app that I can’t get my money back for. I know, I know... “it is not our intention to mislead, we don’t handle refunds because we’re scamming you, contact Apple who will deny you a refund, have a nice day”. Yeah, enjoy my cash you );@&)@¥ ^*+?>|+].

Be very careful

This is not a free app. While it may have had a free portion at one point as indicated by a couple of reviews, that seems to be gone now. It is a subscription and the parameters of it are pretty difficult to see as you input your information and hit continue. One of the continue buttons agrees to $119 charge renewed annually. It is deceptive. The print is very small and the color of the font is much too similar to the background color and therefore easy to miss. Having read the reviews I was keenly aware as I moved through the app looking for the charge and as well as the described way to avoid it (it seems it is no longer available). Buyer beware.

BUYER BEWARE. NO EASY WAY TO DECLINE SUBSCRIPTION Charged me full year with no choice to decline

This looks like a really nice APP and I am sure I would like it. BUT. I got the free version I thought, however, when I went to set it up there was no way to decline the subscription!! So I thought I would get the subscription for 1 month and then move back to the free version.
Well now I have been charge the whole year @ $127. Why would anyone jump off the cliff into a new APP for a full year for that kind of money. And of course I could not cancel or request a refund. I will hope that someone from this company can resolve this as I would like to try to give the APP and company a fair try.
If not then I will report this to my card company and request the charge be denied.

Be careful - $119 with one button

I just wanted to see what this app was about. I downloaded it and put in my information. A button comes up to ‘get started’. Next thing I know, with one button I’ve signed up for an annual subscription for $119. No way to unsubscribe. No contact information to call and ask them to put me back in the free version. Automatically renews. Now it looks like I’m stuck calling my credit card company to get money back. And this is all within two minutes of downloading. I haven’t even taken a step yet. If you don’t want to subscribe, you are better off looking for a truly free app.

Not a review.

I thought I would check this out, honestly I got click happy and didn’t see I was choosing a year subscription. I can’t do $128 right now. How do I cancel and get a refund? Please any help would be appreciated.

* issue was resolved , I did get reimbursed and m great full. From what I saw of the app, it seems really great. The notifications to remind you to work out are

tricked into paying $120

I was trying to set up this app to try it out before purchasing anything, and it asked for all my information. I was maybe busy, but I didnt see where I could check out the app, it just asked me for my fingerprint like all apps do. Suddenly it says thanks for your purchase ! I was mortified because i dont have $120 to spend on an app! I immediately went to the itunes store and canceled but it says i have the subscription for a year. I then went on a walk to try it out. I mean, what a basic app. I dont want to listen to a robotic siri voice on my walk! For that kind of money, you seriously couldnt use a real persons voice? And honestly, where does the value come in? There is nothing on the app but a few workouts. It’s a terrible app, and I would imagine that’s why you need to slip that in there to steal people’s money. It never asked me if i wanted to ‘upgrade.’ What a complete ripoff!

Fraud

I purchased what I believe to be a free trial only to find a $129 charge to my account the next morning. After viewing my purchases I learned that if I sign up I got automatically put on a premium yearly subscription! And that I can not get a refund. I should have read the terms more carefully but I was just following the directions. When I hit the purchase button it never said the price so I assumed it was free like other apps that are free. I may not get my money back but I will never renew! I did cancel the subscription first thing. Just be aware if your downloading from this company. They have the terms but you have to read them before you make the purchase.

Deceptive and takes advantage of biometrics to the app developer’s benefit

I initially downloaded this walking app with the intent of trying it out the free subscription. As soon as I opened the app, it defaulted to a 1-year subscription, though I had no intention of purchasing it. I was attempting to move to the next page and accidentally hit the button to agree to the purchase and, since I was on my phone that recognizes my face to unlock/ pay for items, I was charged for a yearlong subscription. The terms and conditions that I would have to agree to never popped up before my agreeing to purchase, nor was I given enough time to read what I was “agreeing”. Within minutes, I attempted to cancel, however the app only allows for cancellation after the year is up. I think that violates laws throughout the United States that allow for returns of products that don’t suit, that you don’t like, or that don’t provide service or product advertised.

I have deleted this app and I expect a full refund.

Terrible app

I downloaded this app looking for a fun thing to do while walking. I opened it filled out info and then noticed they wanted my fingerprint to confirm a subscription. I didn’t click it and instead found the X in the corner. Looked around the app and saw that it wasn’t worth what they were charging you. It said that deleting it was not enough to not get charged but they currently do not appear in my subscriptions on the iTunes Store so unsure if I am going to get charged anyway. What a terrible and deceptive app. They should be up front and let people know that this is not a free app at all and they will require you to immediately sign up for expensive non refundable subscriptions. Which judging from their responses is their entire business plan.
