Can’t create a account

I tried creating an account, and it keeps coming up with an error message. So I emailed them hoping to solve the problem, but it’s been 3 days and no one has emailed back. Hoping this review gets their attention so I can join. If not, I guess I’ll just delete the app.

Shrug

I wanted to like this but I guess I’m looking for something different to connect to other chronically ill folks. Something more casual. This app leeches spoons from my day every time I open it.

-App looks for posts about symptoms or conditions that you also have. Makes sense in theory but in practice I had my timeline swamped with trauma-dumping from strangers. I wasn’t even following anyone? That’s not the kind of socializing I’m looking for.

-Because disability and chronic illnesses are so personal and vulnerable, I was surprised that the app wants me to use my real, legal name and an actual photo of my face. There wasn’t an option to make a screenname until after the account was already set-up, and you can only change it once for it’s entire existence. That just makes me feel unsafe. Lemme have fun picking a silly screen name. I could then choose to offer my name to friends I’ve talked to.

-similarly, I can’t find any info on deleting my account. I don’t want to just leave it unattended and hooked to my active email still. I want to tidy my digital space and delete accounts abd logins I don’t use. Can’t find a way to do that here.

Wonky/biased but a few new ideas

It’s wonky in that it crashes constantly and I couldn’t even post anything. Now I’m locked out in spite of typing in my correct email and password. Anything I click on to remedy this says “error”.

It’s biased in that it only gives certain options to tell others about who you are. There are about five new age things to choose from and not one Christian, for instance.

Some of the posts reflects the mass ignorance of the public which is annoying, but I did gather some information regarding my condition before it locked me out. Not worth the stress otherwise.

The Most Incredible Community App

I had been looking for an app like this for many years. I have had symptoms of fatigue, dizziness and fainting since 2017. I went to numerous doctors but they could not find anything wrong with me. I felt hopeless and lost.
Wana was referred to me by a friend and I am so grateful for her everyday. It has really changed my life. This platform has given me the sense of community and hope that I was missing.
I realized that there are so many people out there dealing with the same issues and are looking for people to talk to about it. This app also offers numerous resources for education on health topics so that you can really get in touch with what is going on in your body.
Thank you Wana team for recognizing this missing link of connection and developing an incredible platform and community.

Solid concept that *most* can benefit from

This app looks amazing for those who are dealing with medical conditions. However, the mental health community is extremely small. I would love to talk with the devs and help flesh this side of the app out cause it’s majorly lacking.

Awesome!!

Edit: Thank you SO MUCH for finally adding a Notification Center! 😊

This app has already been a lifesaver and game changer for me! 🥺💗 I am a late 20s female with CFS/ME, fibromyalgia, endometriosis, severe depression & anxiety, Sjögren’s syndrome, hEDS, and dysautonomia. It’s been a really tough past 10 years and doesn’t seem to get any easier (although, you would think it would). I have been wanting an app like this for a long time and was so excited to download The Mighty, but some conditions and symptoms aren’t discussed as much there. While I still enjoy The Mighty, the community at Wana seems much more interactive and helpful. The one thing I would greatly enjoy is being able to search for people by location and to see other spoonies nearby (even merely showing people that have made their general location public would be nice). There might be a way to do this, but I have not figured it out. Other than that, five stars for this app. It rocks, and I know it will just keep on improving. Thank you so much for creating this gem for us “spoonies”! 🥄🥰

So helpful and reassuring

The WANA app has helped me reassure myself about my chronic illness when nobody else could. I think it’s really helpful and important that we have a community like this in order to help raise awareness for people who may be suffering with chronic illnesses or who may not have other individual to talk to. Love the WANA community!

Filling the void for connection

In today’s world we are all lacking connections, that is the one thing that I miss the most. However Wana creates a safe place to connect and receive that support, because these are people who are going through the same things as you. I love the app and positive atmosphere it brings

Great community for all!

I downloaded Wana after reading about it on Bustle and I don’t regret it one bit! I was diagnosed with a gluten allergy in July and felt like I had nowhere to talk about my constant stomach issues throughout the long process of my diagnosis. I am so glad I have finally joined the Wana community and now have a place to connect with people experiences similar health issues as me.

Such a Supportive Network!

I downloaded Wana recently and I can already see the positive impact it has had on my life.

I love communicating with the other users on Wana, who are inclusive, kind, open, and very willing to be helpful to all in any way they can. It is a space where I feel very safe to ask questions about my personal health, and can trust I will receive genuine advice/resources.

My interest in alternative treatment methods has grown recently, and I can say with confidence that Wana is a great place to learn about the world of options available for any medical condition. Especially through recommendations of the member community, but also the in-app WanaLibrary.

Wana is a platform for everyone, not just people who experience severe medical issues. We can all benefit from a heightened awareness of ways to improve our overall health.

I encourage everybody to download this app- especially during Covid-19 times, when personal health has become a main concern! 100%.

Real community

I don’t personally struggle from chronic health issues, but this app is helping me learn so much about how to support others who do. The community on this app is so real and so supportive. In a world where people are constantly putting up a front, it’s refreshing to see people be so genuine.

Thankful for Wana

Wow. I can truly say this app has changed the way I express my thoughts about my health. The community encourages you to talk about the good the bad and the ugly when it comes to health. Both mental and psychical. I am thankful there is a space like Wana for me to connect with others, to heal, to learn and to grow!!

Love this community!

If you are looking for a positive and uplifting community, Wana is the app for you! It’s awesome to be able to open up and ask questions about any health concerns I am having and feel like I am getting really thoughtful answers. I highly recommend you download Wana!

Love it!

Met some amazing people in such a great community. Please download this!!! It’s such a fantastic way to get in touch with others who are going through a similar situation as you.

Great concept!! Still lots of bugs to be worked out

It’s a really hard app to use, I’m not gonna lie. It’s difficult to navigate and glitchy at times. Could also be more aesthetically appealing but I can’t give it no stars because the concept is a win and it’s still a great place to meet other disabled and chronic pain suffering individuals

We Are Not Alone!

WANA has become a great outlet for me, specifically for sharing thoughts/treatments/support for mental health concerns. I think it’s great that the app encourages people to discuss difficult or otherwise taboo health-related topics in a supported environment. It’s also a great conversation-starter among my family and friends, and encourages us to normalize and speak candidly about our mental and physical health concerns.

The app itself is user friendly, and the content is tailored to my health and wellness interests. In addition, the other users are very kind, thoughtful, and supportive. I’d recommend WANA to anyone!

Amazing app!!!

Such a helpful and powerful app especially during corona!! What a great way to connect with others, share experiences and get & give support.

Fantastic App

Great idea for an app. It is incredibly helpful and easy to use. In fact, there should be more apps like these that help combat mental illness, especially as it is done through community building and fostering connection. Much more practical and immediate than say going out and joining an in-person support group.

The Support We All Need

I’ve always been a firm believer in having a community and support system around you at all times. Wana provides that during a time when human interaction has been limited to a virtual world. Finding people across time and space who have gone through what you’ve went through, or currently going through, gives validity to you and the voice you find to speak up and express yourself. I highly recommend this app for those of us who feel that they are experiencing life on their own - you are not alone and Wana helps remind you of that!
