Get rid of the AI slop and comment censorship
If you only want to read current articles, the app accomplishes that goal. However, other aspects of the app range from weak to poor to broken.
The app’s search feature is weak. Getting a helpful result is hit-or-miss.
The comments section keeps getting worse and worse.
A commenter used to be able to set fonts, paginate, set quoted text in a window, and other basic functions of composing comments. All are gone. Comments are one paragraph perforce.
One cannot even read a list of one’s previously-posted messages. The feature is broken.
Censorship is getting worse and worse. Fact-based negative comments about the current president and his administration are routinely rejected by the AI censor, but are not when used against detractors of them. Words that perhaps have an offensive connotation in one context, but are completely acceptable and mainstream in another context, are mindlessly rejected. And more.
Speaking of AI, the slop keeps permeating the comments area. AI summaries are often wrong or misleading.
This app should be better. WaPo is derelict in allowing an app to represent them in this way.

Says it all!
The paper has lost its editorial direction
Almost 2 years ago, the editorial board lost its relevance, when they were instructed to kill a certain editorial. Fall out includes many lost subscriptions, leading to dismantling almost half of the news side of the paper. In sports, this is called an “unforced error”!

Now they berate me, a paying subscriber, with constant ads for their ad-free tier. Feels like the mafia offering protection from fires - they are the problem.

How about going back to reporting the news, WaPo, as you did back in the 50s and 60s instead of pushing your liberal, leftist narratives on readers? Readers can and should draw their own opinions should you actually try reporting both sides of an issue instead of your jamming your loony garbage down our throats? And ditch the Kids Post. We don’t want any more indoctrination from liberals.

As oligarchs buy up once venerable news organizations and turn them into right wing state propaganda tools The Post is no exception. Good journalists have had their careers cut short to have their column inches replaced with state media press releases. I’m not sure what will come after corporate media fails but look forward to finding out.
