Regarding The Latest Updates.
Though I have been an Archive user for quite a while I still enjoyed keeping Wattpad as my main writing app as it was easy and fun to write on though since the pro-censorship update I completely removed it off of my phone, I barely ever used it for anything but writing but I cannot support an app that believes in censorship, it is honestly heartbreaking that an app I’ve been using since I was young has resorted to such stupid measures and for what? The app was perfectly fine before but they ended up pushing their most loyal users away and will never be able to win them back

Update 11.39.0 glitched my account
Ever since I updated the app recently it’s been giving me log in problems and not loading any of my stories (even the offline ones) I really hope wattpad fixes this in their next update because I’ve never dealt with these kinds of issues before but on a side note this app is my go to reading platform and my overall favourite among others

Signing up
Everytime I try and sign up I can’t I’ve gone thru my Apple acc, my email acc I’ve tried different passwords everything it’s not letting me in! Not good!

The ads have gotten out of control. After every page you have to watch one which never use to be like this

In 2023 I used this app NON STOP!! It was my escape from reality and I used to cry while I read fanfiction as I was too afraid to hop onto Ao3.
I have had hypersexuality for YEARS now, I’d guess since I was around five. Yes, I did get sucked into the AI roleplay loophole and Wattpad was the thing to slowly attempt at dragging me out.
You know, it’s gotten worse now though, I’m starting to hurt myself and I’m surprised I’m not dead by blood loss and I go into Wattpad as I know it’s helped me before.. AND ITS REMOVED ANY ADULT CONTENT!
Now, I don’t know why, I think it was fine enough with the OBVIOUS BLATANT WARNINGS to children that wouldn’t want to see that, with the BIG ORANGE MATURE LABEL SLAPPED ONTO IT. Yeah, so, back to ai I go! Gotta love ai! And no I’m not moving to Ao3 with their scary rapefics.

Shameful support help
I just sat here and wrote about a ridiculous experience I had after putting in a help request but the review kicked me and it’s gone.
I put in a help request because when making my account I signed up with “Sign in with Apple” now I’m trying to login to my account on my PC but I’m unable to because there’s no Sign in with Apple section and by using this sign in method you don’t receive and email or password. I spent 3 days emailing support for help just for them to say they couldn’t help me because they couldn’t verify I was the owner of the account since the email i messaged from wasn’t linked to my account. 3 days of them telling me they couldn’t help and I am welcome to create a new account. I’m appalled at the lack of support given. I’ve had my account for several years and now all they have to say is “create a new account”. It’s actually ridiculous and I will be finding a similar app to take my business to.

you can now only read about 2 chapters(short or long) and be forced to view a 30+sec long ad that you can barely skip out of off it’s ridiculous!
Why are there so many ads
Used to be able to get through a book now there are so many I can’t finish a chapter with out ads popping up. Used to be a good app for stories now a lot have been completely erased and Im not enjoying it as much as I used to

Censorship and puritan culture ruined this app. I’ve been a member since 2011/2012 and this app used to be full of fun and genuine art. Until it got overrun by ads and paywalls and greedy authors. The final nail in the coffin, however, is the banning of smut. A very unwise, stupid, foolish, and asinine decision considering more than half of your users read or write erotic literature. Now you’ve run your fan base to another app. Goodbye Wattpad. You had your time, now AO3 has taken your crown and your users.

TOO MANY ADVERTISEMENTS
Way too many advertisements after every single chapter. Wattpad used to be one of my favorite reading platforms, but the constant interruptions have made it genuinely hard to enjoy stories. The ad frequency has become so intrusive that it breaks the flow of reading and takes away the immersive experience that made Wattpad special.
I understand the need for ads, but this level of disruption feels excessive. Unfortunately, it’s reached a point where I’ve lost interest in using the app altogether.

Screaming into the void
There’s a lot of people with amazing books that get no views and likes. I feel like there should be a push for them by the app itself to give them a better chance.
More so, the ads. My goodness. I feel like if I’m to watch ads, the author should be getting paid a percentage of that ad revenue. Every time.

Complaint
I have been on this app for eight years and have found tons of supportive online friends who are strangers that I don’t even know I was able to message with them and give them feedback on their Old stories until Wattpad decided that they were going to remove private messages completely now I can’t reach out to those same online friends who have supported my work and check in with how their stories are going because there are no more PMs if you will private messages to reach out and send support. I would also include that when I follow people back on Wattpad the majority of the time now it glitches and says I haven’t followed my respective followers back and that I need to try again later which if you’re a writer like myself, and you appreciate feedback and support from your fellow writers. How the heck are you supposed to support each other if there are no PMs to do so? Construction feedback is important to people like me and I’m sure other writers feel the same as I might.

I can deal with banner ads. But the forced ads between chapters are too invasive and take me out of a story.

This is fine. For some reason when I used the same account from the website on the app I couldn’t change my story. Honestly I’m surprised most people aren’t saying to use the website instead. Website is better.
