Weatherboard: Local Weather

Weatherboard now runs properly on iPad, warns you about Canadian weather, and has a bigger widget. NOW ON IPAD A native iPad layout, not a stretched phone app. Tabs become a sidebar, and content sits in a readable column instead of running the full width of the display. CANADIAN WEATHER ALERTS Official warnings, watches, advisories and statements from Environment and Climate Change Canada. Until now alerts only covered the United States, so if you're in Canada this is new. CANADIAN RADAR Two new map layers from Environment Canada's 1 km national radar, with rain and snow shown separately rather than lumped together as "precipitation". A LARGER WIDGET, AND A LONGER VIEW A new large widget size showing current conditions plus an outlook of up to 14 days, with a temperature range bar so you can read the shape of the week at a glance. Pick 7, 10 or 14 days in Edit Widget. On iPad there's an extra large size that lays the full fortnight out in two columns. EIGHT MORE WIDGET BACKGROUNDS Thirteen in total now: wildflower hill, green meadow, autumn pines, sunlit forest, misty forest, winter pines, and two paper textures. Or leave it on Auto and the widget matches the sky. PRECIPITATION COUNTDOWN Turn it on in Edit Widget to see how long until it rains or snows. "Rain in 20 min", "Snow in 2 days". It now looks a fortnight ahead, so "nothing due" means nothing due. HAND-PAINTED THROUGHOUT Every condition has its own watercolour illustration, including night versions, a tornado for active warnings and a snowflake when it's at or below freezing. The hourly strip now uses the same artwork as the 7-day list. SMALLER THINGS Dates now show alongside the weekday, so it's "Wed 4th" rather than just "Wed". Cards have more contrast, which makes the numbers easier to read against a bright sky. The Today tab no longer reloads every time you switch away and back. Pull down to refresh when you want fresh data. Tapping links and saved places on iPad works properly. The wind, temperature and pressure map layers are gone. They needed you to sign up for an API key, which was a poor trade for three layers.
