About
WhatchAlarm wakes you at a lighter moment, instead of dragging you up from the bottom of a sleep cycle.
You don't sleep at one depth. All night you rise and fall through cycles, and a fixed alarm fires wherever it happens to land — which is why 7:30 can feel brutal one morning and easy the next. WhatchAlarm gives that a little room to manoeuvre: you set the latest time you can afford to get up, plus a window before it, and the watch looks for the moment you were already surfacing.
If it finds one, it wakes you then — gently, with light taps first. If it never finds one, it wakes you exactly at the time you set, and at full strength from the first second. Your deadline is never missed.
IT RUNS ON YOUR WATCH
The alarm lives entirely on the Apple Watch. Your iPhone can be in another room, face down, or switched off — nothing depends on the phone doing work overnight, and nothing depends on Background App Refresh being switched on.
HOW IT WORKS
• Set your latest wake-up time and a window of 10 to 30 minutes on your Apple Watch
• Tap Start for a single morning — or build a weekly schedule, with its own time for each day
• Sleep
• Inside the window, the watch senses wrist movement and heart rate — the signs you are already close to the surface
• A lighter moment found: light taps first, firming up only if you stay asleep
• The deadline reached: strong vibration straight away, with sound joining two minutes later
WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT
• Runs standalone on the watch, not on the phone
• The deadline alarm is scheduled the moment you tap Start, so it fires even if the app is shut down
• Gentle when it can be, firm when it has to be
• Choose how firmly an early wake carries on: gentle, standard or strong
• A watch-face complication shows your next alarm
• A two-week history shows when and how it woke you
• No account, no sign-in, no servers, no analytics, no ads
• Heart rate and movement are read on the watch, used on the watch, and never leave it
HONEST ABOUT WHAT IT IS
Sleep-phase detection from a wrist sensor is a good heuristic, not a laboratory measurement. WhatchAlarm treats it that way: it only ever moves your alarm earlier, inside a window you chose, and never later. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose anything.
Like any alarm that depends on a wearable being worn, charged, and not silenced by system settings, it should not be your only alarm for a flight, an exam, or medication. Keep a backup for anything that truly matters.
