Too Many Ads
The content is good. However, the app is so burdened with poorly developed ads that my iPhone locks up every time I try to use it. Dayton Now performs much better.

Poor rating reason
My sub stellar review is due to the inconsistency in information posted. Some stories stay up for months. Many important local matters are not posted at all. News from many counties away are posted as “local” and real local stories are ignored.

Slow to load and often doesn’t
I wish this app was better and not so slow. All my other apps are super fast to load and never fail to load. Come on WHIO, fix this mess.
Worst news app ever
I’ve never seen a worse app on any platform. It’s nothing but ads that block what you try to see, stutter, stop you reading a story, and just generally get in the way of anything you want to do. Whio used to be my go-to. Not anymore.
Horrible UI/UX and News Coverage
As a mobile developer I can attest to many of the comments on the user experience front. You receive a notification, tap on it, you are brought to the app but not the story, instead ads are everywhere takes forever to load and the auto playing of unrelated content is absolutely horrible. Good luck finding the arrival of the deep link isn’t valid. Don’t waste your time if you want a functional user interface, or you want a smooth user experience.
The news platform is ridiculous, days late on news from around the nation if it’s relevant, click bait style notifications, vague content descriptions, something like “Country music star files for divorce after 10 years” incredible click bait. Just say who it is, being cryptic is absurd. Oh yeah, don’t worry you received that notification today, you’ll get it again in 4-5 days incredibly annoying but let’s not forget this specific notification already happened days ago.

Too many ads
The WHIO app is awful. The news is old and no one seems to know how to proofread!
The lack of coverage on sports has been nonexistent.
There should be an easy and in your face way to access WHIO of news in real time and it is difficult to find. It seems to be easier to upload storm/weather photos than it is to report accidents etc.

Pretty much just a terrible app. Loaded with adds posing as news stories. Videos play automatically, even after turning off that feature. Alerts of news stories pop up as banners, but when you click the banner, half the time, there is no such news story. If you want to know about school and business closure mentioned on the app... You need to download their weather app that is also basically useless except for checking delays and closures in the winter.

I love this app
Even if I can't watch the news it will still let me listen I like that feature and I love all the channels you can watch on the app.
Too many videos
Clicking on a story results in being sent to a video link, which takes even more time to load and view. This method is not the best fit for use on a phone- at least place the text of the story along with video for quicker access to the content

Often you run stories that are old. Same with the weather. I suggest you update more often. Thank you.
Average performance app
The app often paints the screen in a stuttering manner, loading some elements, then stalling out, then loading more text and photos, if it doesn’t freeze entirely. It makes you wonder if it’s loaded with all sorts of background scripts, trackers, etc.

It used to be great, but now, I can’t forward any articles on the app to anyone, and the videos don’t work half the time.
