What's New in White Mtn Hiker Moosi
3.0.0
November 25, 2024
v. 3.0.0 -- 24 November 2024 • The app has been updated with the latest digitized trails from the U.S. Forest Service. The huts, shelters and campgrounds have also been updated with the latest from the USFS. • The outlines of Wilderness Areas and Special Interest Areas in the White Mountains have been added. • Estimated times for any trail are now provided using the AMC formula of speed over the horizontal and time to go up 1000 ft. The app is preset to "book time" (2 MPH and 30 minutes per 1000 ft of elevation gain) but the user can change those numbers however they want in the Settings Screen. The app also now incorporates a simple "Pace Calculator" (accessed from the Settings Screen): enter the time, distance and total elevation change for a hike and the app will show you a table of horizontal and vertical paces that are compatible. You can select the pair that you want to use for future hikes. • Display a time table for multisegment custom hikes by tapping the new "Time Table" button in the contact details screen. The time table shows the distance, elevation gain or loss, and estimated time for each segment. You can export an expanded version of the Time Table (which includes average slopes, and cumulative distance and time) to send to others or to enter into a spreadsheet, etc. • Topo profiles now show the different segments of custom hikes. • Get driving directions to any trailhead or town you tap, or between any two points you tap on the map. The driving directions are provided in Apple Maps. • The uncertainty of your location is now shown as a red halo around the location dot whenever GPS is turned on. • Safe hiking links -- the USFS WMNF alerts and notifications page and the NH HikeSafe website -- are now provided at the top of the settings screen. • Better graphics at zoomed out magnification levels including the elimination of overlapping labels, etc. • Editing of user entered paths and tracks now works as it was supposed to all along. • Updated users manual.
