Dangerous- do t trust developers who aren’t wildfire professionals to design an emergency app

This app clearly is designed by a group who are good with graphics but don’t know much about emergency management. A third-party developer can’t realistically replicate an agency app by building a better interface, because at the end of the day they don’t have trained people continuously interpreting dynamic information. Cal fire and BC/AB have ICS info workers reviewing and evaluating what is being published automatically, adding additional context and details, & prioritizing which pieces are the most important. The human layer is the actual safety system. If the API pulls something incorrectly, staff are there to make manual edits. This app for example is pulling the “location” field that comes from the dispatch application as a default and is usually a small geographic feature associated with the original detection into its summary field. It says that the a major wildfire “Ainsley Creek” is near “Chaumox BC” … that’s a tiny road on the opposite side of the Fraser that is actually associated with the original fire that spotted to this one and isn’t a town like the ai ? is implying. Not helpful. It’s also implying much more active fire behaviour than is actually occurring or likely to occur pulling from the prediction system. These are just two errors on one incident page in 5 minutes of browsing. Do yourself a favour and download the less flashy official apps.

Awesome app

Thank you for this app! The app is accurate and quite up-to-date with real time fires. Appreciate the different layers that you can apply. Including those with the hotspots.

Excellent!!

I have never been so impressed by an app. They thought of everything. With fires all around, I have relied on this as a daily resource. It’s intuitive, with everything you need, all in one place and quickly accessible.
