Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is review sentiment: WildFire at 91% against SaskAlert's 56%. WildFire also leads on update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 4 months). SaskAlert's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 4.1) and ratings volume (57 vs 7). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

SaskAlert holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SaskAlert has 57 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 56% of SaskAlert's written reviews are positive against 91% of WildFire's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

SaskAlert ships an update every 4 months, WildFire every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
