Ecosia for emails

I love using this app for my emails. I feel great about plants being planted just from me deleting old emails. My only problem is when I am writing an email back, I somehow create three drafts as I am writing a response. I am not sure if this is a bug, but I am not clicking off of my message the entire time. That aside, I love how this app gives me a view of the trees I planted and where they are planted in the world!

Minor issues

I love this app in that it’s easy to navigate and does exactly as advertised. My only issues are it’s a little bit slow at loading my emails, and the “points” you’re supposed to receive for interacting with your inbox aren’t being accurately given out. I highly recommend this app anyway.

Love the concept but too buggy

I’ve been using my Gmail account on Wildhero for a few months now, and it’s been so buggy. I’m unable to swipe right to open the side menu, and sometimes I can’t even delete my emails. I’ll select my emails and hit delete, and either nothing happens or the email pops back up in the inbox half a second after it had disappeared. If I click open the email and hit the trash icon there, nothing happens. I do like the option to unsubscribe and delete all, it’s come in very handy. However, the functionality is too clunky for my needs, so I will be going back to using the Gmail app for daily needs and the Wildhero app for inbox cleanup (if the trash function actually works).

Great idea

I enjoy the premise of this app but it only counts some of my deleted emails and I’m not sure why.

Great app!

As an email client alone, I'm very happy with this app. They layout is great and I love the inbox cleanup/unsubscribe feature. The fact that proceeds go towards a great cause is just an additional benefit in my opinion. Funding tree planting by doing something as routine as checking my email is so convenient and a great way to pitch in a little bit! I'm hopeful for an iPad-optimized app layout, which is where I do most of my email-reading.

Awesome Concept, Great Execution

I could say a lot of technical stuff about the app, but the most important part to me is the concept itself. I think the entire idea behind it is amazing. It’s honestly just really freakin’ cool and exciting and I love getting to be a part of it - in my small consumer-y way. There have been some bugs here and there, but I’ve gotten effective help when I’ve asked for it, it does what they say it will, and the interface is as user-friendly as any other email app. I recommend it to everyone I know. They’re probably tired of hearing about it at this point, tbh. Really happy this exists.

Not very good

I’m using this app because I like that it helps plant trees, but it’s actually not great at being an email hub. I’ve had so many problems with lagging and glitchiness. I’m really glad I kept my old hub just in case, so I can check over there when I need to read an attachment.

Optimization Needed Immediately

If the app is supposed to support cleaning out emails, it begins to crash and become unreliable only after a few commands and/or mass deletes. The app is fine but I’m more than sure it’s recognized it’s buggy, lags, and crashes…can we get an optimization update?

Okay, but a little buggy

For the most part the app works well, and I enjoy learning about the reduction of my carbon footprint. But, there are some notable bugs that deter me from using this as my sole email app. One of my draft emails won't get deleted, no matter how many times I try to discard it. Also, when I open a draft email that has attachments, the attachment gets deleted from the email. Also, unsubscribing seems to do nothing. I still get emails from senders that have the "unsubscribed" label. There's no option to block these spam senders, and reporting an email as spam doesn't prevent me from receiving more emails. I think that this failure to prevent spam defeats the purpose of the app. Because Wildhero fails to actually unsubscribe me from emails and spam, I still get the unnecessary traffic that is bad for my carbon footprint. Unless this particular issue is fixed, I wouldn't recommend the app for someone who really wants to help the planet.

Suggestions for the Gmail UI

1. Being able to long-press on notifications and reply/delete/archive from there was convenient in the Gmail app. Would love for that function in Wildhero.
2. After moving an email to a folder, the Gmail app would return me to the inbox page, which saves me a step from having to exit out to the inbox page myself. If this is a swing I can turn on in Wildhero, please let me know!

Some bugs

Overall I like this app. It’s certainly functional as my default email app and I’m glad it’s allowing me to plant trees. But it has some bugs. I don’t see any place to provide feedback for the app, and it needs it. My spam and trash folders both indicate there’s still +99 emails in them, but I deleted them all. And weirdly I can’t delete emails from Adobe from my inbox. Additionally, when another app tries to open the email writer it isn’t populating the recipient field.

Best email app ever

I love this app so much. My email is a mess. I have so many promotional emails that I need to delete, but nothing motivates me to do that like being able to plant trees while I do it. This app has already helped me delete over 20,000 emails (I still have several thousand to go), unsubscribe from emails I will never read, & plant trees. For a fairly new app, it has surprisingly few bugs, & the bugs it does have can be reported straight to one of the co-founders, James, who is so responsive & kind. It works just like Gmail. Make the switch!

Amazing app to plant trees with your email!

I love Wildhero! I use it everyday and really enjoy watching the tree-counter climb just from doing what I normally do in my email. The interface looks and feels similar to Gmail (you can also pick Apple Mail) so there was no learning curve and the transition was really smooth. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to fund the reforesting of our planet without needing to change a single habit!

A hopeful, helpful app

Love doing something small to help the planet. All email users should be using this app.

Great app!

Great app and great company. This is a great way to manage my email and help the environment at the same time! They are also very receptive to feedback to keep making the app even better with each update.

Helping the planet has never been easier

A great way to help out the planet while doing daily activities. Definitely worth the download :)

Works the same as mail, plants trees quickly

It would be cool if users could customize it more. I’d increase the number of ads in my feed if It funded more trees.

Trees for cleaning out emails

Loving this app! It’s easy to swipe away emails and plants trees in the process. Thank you!

Amazing!!!

Truly the best app; minimal issues, a founder who actually reaches out, and replies so quickly with answers to questions or feedback. The app itself runs insanely smooth, I was able to connect 3 separate email accounts into one. My favorite feature is the unsubscribing availablity! Not only are you helping the environment, you’re literally planting trees doing your basic day to day email usages. Without actually having to leave to go plant a tree! Amazing overall

Great!

Love the app! Really like how efficient it is as removing excess spam emails and unsubscribing to them all at once. Makes my life a whole lot easier then having to do it manually through outlook or Gmail.

The only suggestion I have is for it to help me remove really old email stuff (going years back) without deleting anything that could be important. I don’t really know how to make that sound any simpler but it would certainly help me lower my email data usage.

Overall it’s great and I would recommend it to anyone (even if they’re not trying to make an environmental impact)
