Wind speed not accurate

I’m a Professional mariner working around straight of Georgia, I only use windy for wind direction as wind speed is never accurate especially in the inlets always much less then actually is. Also wave height is only accurate close to the weather bouy on nw winds , se winds always dictate a much higher wave height then there actually is.

Consult Windy every day

I now have Windy Premium and consult the weather map every day. I find the forecasts 2 days out are very accurate, but the accuracy lessens a bit the further out you go of course. I use Windy for my job to predict weather conditions up to a week out. I am the Harbour Master at Gippsland Ports in Victoria Australia. I mainly use the ECMWF model.

Used to be accurate

I wrote a raving review of this app about two years ago. Now it’s somewhat the opposite. Is Windy using different forecasting models now? Its rain predictions in mm are now off, and same with its wind forecasts. They used to be spot on. I’m not reviewing one or two “off” days; this is repeatedly over months. It used to be so accurate.

The layers are still the best out there.

For Years!

We’ve been using Windy for “years” from one boat to another, sailing from the PNW to Mexico across the South Pacific and from WA north. Windy has never let or let’s us down daily and when it counted the most!
