Simple, ABYC-based and by far the best

It’s so nice having a professional app that does its job and does not get bogged down with bells and whistles: The app only has one page! I have used WireSizer daily for years because it’s quick and gives the critical voltage drop information needed to choose correct wire size, while being entirely interactive: Spin gauge, amperage or length wheels and the results are instantly updated, making decisions easy and quick.

WireSizer calculates the minimum wire size needed to meet voltage drop requirements based on user inputs (voltage, circuit length, operating environment, wire insulation rating, and current/watts). In addition, it also verifies the "Ampacity" of the wire to make sure it is safe for your circuit. Details on calculations made and formulas used can be found in the WireSizer "User Guide" within the app or online from WireSizer.com. Users can always request a refund from Apple if an app does not meet their expectations.

FAST calculator + handy material list.

This is an absolute must have! As a home DIYer I wish I had this years ago instead of referring to a chart as a guide. In the process of Installing a vehicle 12v and solar system and this has become extremely handy and sped up the building process significantly. The ‘+’ for material list is the cherry on top. Highly recommend A+++

Yes, it is DC only. As clearly indicated by its subtitle in the App Store "DC Voltage Drop Calculator", and as clearly stated in its App Store product description multiple times, including in ALL CAPS - "NOT FOR USE WITH AC CIRCUITS!".

Easy to use and accurate

I am a Marine Engineer and I use this app at my desk and in the field to run “how to” calculations to determine the wire size required for a particular voltage, load current and circuit run. The spinner wheels make it very easy to enter the data and the drill down that is available when the results tapped is an excellent bonus. My favorite wire sizing app.

Very helpful, limited to 50VDC

I use this app all the time! Would use it even more if it could support higher voltages. I’d like to see at least 150vdc, and 240vac. Thanks for the useful tool!

The latest version now allows voltage up to 60 volts DC. Calculating wire sizes for higher voltages requires taking into account some additional factors to do properly (which many voltage drop calculators neglect). We are planning on investigating the feasibility of this in the future. Thanks for the review!

Works well, some limitations

Overall it’s a very good tool. I use it to size DC wires runs for solar. I have verified accuracy with manual calculations of voltage drop. It’s limited to 50vdc maximum so works well for up to 48vdc battery banks but can’t use it for solar panels in series as voltage exceed 50v limit.

Great easy to use wire gauge calculator

I use this app in my marine electrical business and find it a valuable tool.
No having to lookup or calculate wire thickness while running wire.

Almost perfect

Useful app but it would help enormously if the final screen with the actual volt drop included voltage as well as percentage. Most of our equipment specifies max and min voltage so we need to perform another step to convert your percentage figure into a voltage.
