I hate wondery! they make it ridiculously hard to get a refund so I never got one and I bought it through my apple podcast app so I still got ads perpetually which contradicts the reason I paid for wondery so I just never listened to my fav podcasts bc the ads irked me n my money for the annual ad free service went to absolute waste. it makes me so mad.

Faulty
I have three starts because I love the programs in this app and I post for Plus to play without ads. However, I have to open Anna code the app no less than three times until it loads and works properly. It is so frustrating. Especially being a paying customer. I really wish they would do something about this.

Crash!
I’ve been using this app for a year now, getting early access to my favourite shows. For an entire year, this app crashes at least 20 times before I can start my podcast. Won’t be renewing my subscription.
Trashes my phone EVERY time I try to use it
Wish I could leave zero stars. Doesn’t matter how often I update, each time I open up Wondery everything freezes and I have to wait 5-7 minutes to use my phone again. Every. Goddamned. Time. I cancelled my membership on this alone. I like their programs, but it’s not worth the hassle. No other app does this. You’d think by now Wondery would sort it out, but no.

Bad service
Bought a year access at the End of last year. Now the service is being moved to Audible for a monthly fee.
Wanted to like it, unstable
When it works it’s got a great catalog, fairly usable interface, unfortunately it crashes more often than it works. I usually takes me two or three tries (timeouts) to get it running, every time…. It rarely crashes once it successfully opens, but it got too frustrating to use so I cancelled the renewal.

Great content, horrible app
Great and engaging content, a mix of true crime and history. Truly a fun feast for people who want edutainment! However the app is god awful. Slow and you are unable to manually arrange listening queues. Every other podcast app has this. Also, while driving, if I try to open it without doing so before I leave my house, it will lock me it. It wants me to open the app on my phone and login first. WHEN I HAVE THE PODCAST MP3s PRE-DOWNLOADED FOR ROAD TRIPS??? YOU WANT US TO TEXT AND DRIVE JUST TO UNLOCK MY ALREADY AVAILABLE SOUND FILES? Or at least wait until a red light? But that’s still a bit concerning! Why must we be constantly online and not just have the login connected to our phones, even offline? Again, other podcast apps like Overcast, Podcast Addict, etc., DO NOT have this offline login issue. Less dangerous and I can just access them with my car media screen and still drive and keep my eyes on the road (I have the touch areas basically memorized at this point lol).
I am genuinely sorry that the Amazon/Audible takeover is happening, I am very sad to see yet another group of independent artists and businesses get consumed into the corporate beast that is big business and private equity. But also when other indie artists and companies like Dropout have better apps, it’s a bit ridiculous to have such a lackluster app like this. I hope the Amazon Audible app has a better GUI, I’ve never used it before. Good luck on the rest of the month that Wondery exists as its own thing.

Frustrating to get on
Can never access the app right away on iPhone and/ir CarPlay. When I click onto the icon, it actually freezes my devices. It happens about 3 or 4 times before actually being able to get on. Once on, it is great. Maybe it’s not keeping up with all other the iOS updates. Very frustrating to use.
Great selection of podcasts, terrible app
I have enjoyed the variety of content and new podcasts utilizing this app for over a year but the functionality is so disappointing. I have to continually open the app 3-4 times (every time) in order to access the podcasts..
Worst app experience ever
I’m perplexed at the generally high reviews this app has. This is the least functional app I’ve ever used. It is INCREDIBLY LAGGY. It crashes 1/2 of the time upon launching. It has trouble loading any episode, downloaded or not. Every time I try to listen to downloaded episodes when I don’t have service, it logs me out and I can’t access anything. It feels like a relic from 15 years ago before we knew how to make good apps. I will be switching to Apple Podcasts immediately, the wondery plus features are nowhere worth this horrendous app experience.

love the premise, app is not it
love the shows on the app but i have to try and open the app at least twice every time because it crashes and closes immediately. the app lags, and it’s not easy to discover new shows based on your preferences.
Great podcasts, horrible app
The shows are great, but the app itself is horrible. Sometimes I have to attempt to open it 3 times just for it to work. I’m the past year or so I’ve never been able to just open the app and listen, it automatically shuts down every time. It’s frustrating because there’s no other app I have that has these kinds of problems.

This app constantly crashes when first opening it. I hate that I pay for the premium to listen to armchair expert early and ad free because this app is so undeserving of supporting their podcast. Apple CarPlay is a nightmare with this app too. Here’s an idea, fix the technical issues? It’s 2026 get some devs who know what they’re doing

App crashes multiple times every day
First app review I have ever left. This is one of the only apps I pay for. I do that because of armchair expert only. It’s the only podcast I listen to on the platform because the app is so terrible. I literally set aside 3-5 minutes each day to get the podcast to play. Open the app. Crash. Open the app again. Crash. Open the app one more time… maybe it seems like it will work… crash. Oh, one more time, open the app… and… Crash. Every day. Literally crashes 3-6 times daily before I can get my content to play. I am so looking forward to the day when AE goes to a different platform.

Not thrilled
I pay for Wondery plus specifically for Armchair Expert. I love Dax’s perspective and the dynamic between Dax and Monica. A lot of times the video doesn’t work and often times I have some sort of issue with the app (slowness, won’t sync well with my car, etc). I’m usually pretty tolerant but since I pay for this app, it gets really frustrating. I’ve emailed Wondery and usually just get a canned response. Video rarely works anymore! I won’t be renewing.

The app CONSTANTLY crashes and often doesn’t include the videos that are showing on other platforms. As a subscriber, this is very frustrating!

The context is great but the app is really glitchy lately, I constantly get knocked out of the app, and have to attempt multiple times to start episode that I want to watch

The worst app!
Glitches, crashes three times before it will play anything. Reading the reviews, this has been a problem for over two years and has not been fixed. I pay to listen to the content but I’m barely able to get on the app to listen. It feels lil such a waste of money. It now has some of my favourite shows but I can hardly ever get it to work to listen. Frustrated!
