Extremely disappointed

I am super disappointed with this synth, I wish I could return it and get my money back. The interface is clunky and feels very old and the over all sound of the synth engine isn’t good and feels very underdeveloped for example when I crank up the resonance instead of the filter self-oscillating it just puts out a horrible glitchy sound that left my ears ringing (I was wearing headphones). I’ve bought almost every synth that’s available on iOS and this is one of the most disappointing I’ve come across. I feel like I wasted my money.

Klassik Keyboar

Klassik keyboad 5 okt+ please

Unable to change settings in any drop down window in AUV3 mode.

The only drop down window that works is the preset window.
Any drop down window will not allow changes in AUV3 mode.

Too ambitious?

Imagine sitting down (preferably with your glasses on) in front of 12 scientific calculators. They can do all the maths but may be overwhelming. I’m grateful for all of the features woodman has packed into this synth and it sounds great but it needs a more logical interface (makeover). It looks good on the face of it but quickly becomes a “configuration simulator” where you often get lost within menus, looking for settings you know should exist and wonder where you need to look next and which window will be overlayed unpredictably.

Some knobs are enormous, others are miniscule! Settings hidden within unassuming sections, buried amongst dozens of parameters.

@dev, the default patch needs to be more barebones, not a filtered sine wave with custom envelope. Patch creation should always start with a raw harmonic (saw wave), no envelopes, modulations or filtering. The analog setting is nice but should not be on by default either.

You also waste a lot of space in the header, displaying the logo which could be put to better use.

My brain hurts, I’m off for a lie down before the migraine kicks in. Who knows when I’ll next dare to open this app.

Fantastic potential

Definitely not a beginner synth, the interface is a bit bewildering.
Sometimes dropdown selections work sometimes not.
Couldn’t contact app support?
Some lovely sounds but may be too much of a learning curve

My favourite synth

I have tried many, many synths, I have been searching high and low for something that does not leave me wanting - wanting to move on instead of actually making music. Finally it has arrived, “it” being Woodsynth! There’s a lot of talk about other synths and I think to myself why isn’t everyone talking about this one? Still, on the bright side (albeit rather selfishly) it feels that bit more like my synth. Thank you Woodman’s you are the best, I mean that most sincerely indeed.

Lots of possibility

One can get into all sorts of mischief with this instrument. The continued development work on the synth convinced me to buy a bundle of Wood tools. That kind of effort deserves support, particularly when the results sound as good as this synthesizer does.

One of the best synths on IOS

This really is a lovely synth, you can tell the developer cares about their work. It is constantly being improved and new features are a regular event lately. To me it sounds a step above the rest.

unusable on my ipad pro m1 (normal size, not the big one)

the gui is sooooo bad! i can not open a preset with my fingers , everytime i’ll try to open one, the window is closing

and everything is so small , i can not see most of the elements and the zoom function shows only the top left area of the plug-in

perhaps a good synth, but not for the ipad. i will cancel my purchase

One of the best on iOS!

This synth is really amazing…one of the best i know, and i own many ;–)
Extremly versatile and soo deep.. with the new Sequencer and the 4 Independent layers you can do nearly a whole song in one one single patch!
The Sample and Wavetable section is also fantastic!

Presets still don’t show up

Such a great idea yet makes loading presets unnecessarily complicated, if unusable

Presets don’t load properly

The preset browser is pretty non-functional. Instead of showing a list, you have to open up folders in your files to load presets manually. There appears to be an egregiously overlooked update not being addressed. I’ve written to developer but have yet to receive any response.

(Edited) No presets in standalone

(New edit): they showed up only after opening the app in Cubasis, and after they were visible also in AUM.
But they are still not showing up in standalone mode.

(Old): Hi, just purchased the synth but is it normal it comes without factory presets? I tried also erasing and reinstalling but not a single preset is showing up. 0...
Thanks

Presets?

Hey, does anyone else have no factory presets? Any idea on how to load them in or doesn’t it come with any?

So I've had this for a while....

And wow, I've only just realised how great this thing is. I make boombap/lo-fi type tracks so this is great for stacking samples, only problem is, it's glitchy at times.
If the app wasn't glitchy it would be a 5 star review.

Deep but easy to navigate

Great sound being able to combine all the available oscillators and layers together. The app can get deep but all the editing is 1 click away with a few minor exceptions being 2 clicks away. The sequencer is pretty straight forward but makes getting ideas out very quick. It can get fairly cpu intensive if you start piling up the layers but the quality of the patches and sounds I’ve got out of it so far make it worth it. As a note, it’s pretty efficient if you are creating more simple patches. Awesome synth.

promising start

I like synths that have the possibility of a soulful and fairly vintage sound with varying levels of complexity achieved through multiple layers or modulations. Woodsynth seems to provide that, and the addition of in app sampled or imported audio files (of a very limited length) adds further to the sonic possibilties.
Aside from that it’s fairly standard fare with respect to oscillator types, envelopes, LFOs and fx. But having 4 layers, each capable of up to four oscillators (3 plus sample) does allow for some great sonic potential. Factor in the in built sequencer and arpeggiator then things go even further.

As it’s version 1 it feels like there’s some way to go before the experience is fully refined - the interface is a little cramped and quirky with tabs along the bottom triggering new windows in inconsistent positions above which can be frustrating. The delay and reverb are serviceable - but the fact that they work independently in each layer, as well as independent LFOs/filters etc. means that a lot of sonic possibllties are there. Some more filter types might be added hopefully.
More interaction between layers seems like a thing that’s missing making it feel like four instances of one synth rather than one synth with four components, but hopefully this will change.

Nevertheless I’m enjoying making music with this, which is the important thing.

hence I look forward to seeing this synth evolve.

Lovely

Watched Doug from infamous sound test room had to get it sounds lovely and appears to be very light on cpu. I will update as I get more use but I know Maple Syrup Studio is trustworthy for updates and bug fixes. I own a few of their effects apps and the level of detail that goes into these are superb.
