About

EDIT TEXT FAST Grant access to any folder in Files — On My iPhone, iCloud Drive, or any installed Files provider — and edit its text files in place. Or open a single file directly when that's all you need. Nothing is copied into a separate app area; your changes land back in the original file. CONNECT TO YOUR SERVERS OVER SFTP Add SFTP connections, each scoped to a single root directory. Authenticate with a password or an SSH private key — encrypted keys with a passphrase are supported. Server host keys are pinned and verified by SHA-256 fingerprint on first connection, with no "trust everything" shortcut. Credentials and keys are stored in the iOS Keychain and are sent only to the server you configure. A BROWSER BUILT FOR TEXT Folders first, then files, with dotfiles always shown. Create, rename, and delete files and folders. Search filenames recursively across a source. Pull to refresh remote folders. AN EDITOR THAT TELLS YOU THE TRUTH A clean, monospaced writing surface with adjustable text size and a key row for the symbols you actually type. Honest save state - it never tells you a file is saved when it isn't. Detects when a file has changed on the server or in another app, so you can reload or overwrite on purpose. Recovers unsaved changes if you're interrupted. On SFTP, saves use an atomic rename; a server that can't guarantee a safe overwrite is opened read-only rather than risk your data. Preserves line endings (LF, CRLF, or CR) and a leading byte-order mark. BUILT FOR iPHONE AND iPAD Portrait and landscape, iPad multitasking, and external keyboards. DELIBERATELY MINIMAL Write Access is not an IDE, a Git client, or a sync service. It does one thing - quick, reliable plain-text edits to the files and servers you already use - and stays out of your way. Opens UTF-8 plain-text files up to 5 MiB.

What's New in WriteAccess

1.0.44

Line numbers and Markdown highlighting land in the editor, plus hardware keyboard shortcuts. New wrap toggle: turn wrapping off to scroll long lines sideways — handy for configs and logs. A Sources button jumps you straight back to your files from anywhere. Plus fixes for several crashes when opening and editing files, especially Markdown.
