reporting and downvoting bullying got me banned.
in 2016, this app dropped ~75% in downloads due to cyber bullying alone and had to lay off 60% of their staff as a result.
even after being bought by a new company in 2023, still holds the same morals.. clearly.
if a social platform is attempting to make a positive impact: don’t we think they’d respond to criticism and make the necessary changes instead of perma-banning people just reporting racist comments?
Yikyak has an agenda for what you read and consume. hate is promoted and kindness is not shown. other comments prove this. this a social platform everyone should avoid unless you’re a racist, go right ahead apparently because that’s genuinely all i saw in comments.

No text code
Had this app for years but I just accidentally deleted it and when I redownloaded it no matter how many times I tried to get it to text me the code it won’t send me a code. I’ve tried a dozen times tonight and it won’t send a code to my phone number at all.
They ruined it originality
Yik yak needs to go back to the old days, where it was just a place where people within a certain area would be able to anonymously post random comments. No communities, no games, chats, whatever. This is just another social media app like Reddit, nothing special at all, it used to be because of its original design.

Time out???
I haven't really used the app in two years. Then months ago I used it then stopped. Got on months later and it says im in time out.
I checked my old post and comments and they're fine dont know why im in “time out” this app is and will always be trash. The old yik yak was better.
I'll wait or forget about this app for awhile but if it still says it weeks later im deleting it.
You should at least explain what the user did and get real mods the user mods are destroying your app hence the reason you have to have ads and all this other random junk that doesn't make any sense. Like why do you have games and stuff on here, dumb

Stop pausing my music
I’ll change this to 5 stars if yall can ask gpt to fix your code enough that it won’t pause music when you open the app. I actually enjoy this app but I cannot understand why this problem still persists
Major privacy concerns
User beware. Accounts are assigned unique user ids and can be tracked via API calls to the servers. You are not anonymous. You are being tracked.

I think you add the feature to send videos in the group chats not just pictures.
absolutely revolting
this app quickly became one of my favorites. posting anonymously, posting in groups to find your peoples. but i have noticed in almost every single group i have joined, ranging from “ask women” to “love island” to “foodies” and whatnot. there is always multiple men, saying sexual/predatory things. in a “food” group there was a man asking women about selling him videos of them farting/peeing. and it’s absolutely disgusting how people get banned for saying something back, putting them in their place. and the people saying the actually sick things get no repercussions. do better please because this app has soo much potential

There are so many weird posts on here, ranging from obvious solicitation adverts, sexting, etc. there’s also an incredibly sexist user base
Bad Bugs & Biased Mods
PLEASE fix this app and the way it background refreshes constantly. I used up all of my international data plan while studying abroad in less than a week, solely because of this app!! Fix this!! Also moderators are really biased and tend to be racist/ sexist and allow a lot of discrimination while also punishing the victims of said interactions.

App doesn’t work for new users anymore
As a new user trying to join Yik Yak in 2026, I downloaded the app excited to check out my college community. Unfortunately, the sign-up process is broken and unreliable.
I could enter my phone number, but the verification SMS code either never arrives or takes forever (tried multiple times, different networks, etc.). When I finally got past that, the .edu email verification for the private campus feed failed or was unclear.

genuinely this app only spreads negativity and hasn’t been useful for anything.
Terrible app
The mods are obviously biased and on top of that you aren’t told which rule you broke when banned. Off topic posts are ignored. Downvotes don’t stick after refreshing. I’m forced to look at the new “popular” page. Don’t waste your time with this app.
