Our Family Loves Yoto
Specifically the Club Collection!! Our son has a handful of cards for music and his favorite book series although we have been utilizing Brain Bots and SoundTrekkers lately on a daily basis. Such a great, screen-free supplement to his home learning fun!!
Game Changer
The Yoto player mini has been an absolute game changer for our almost 3 year-old. Took him a while to get used to the concept of an audiobook, but the pixel art definitely helps give him something to focus on while listening to his stories. Every night before bed after we read to him, he gets to choose something to listen to by himself, and it is the perfect way to wind down before he goes to sleep. Now he asks to go to bed every night just to listen to a story! I also love that you can record your own stories. The only piece of feedback we have is to add an option that slowly lowers the volume before the unit shuts off, instead of abruptly, turning off, as that has definitely woken him up a few times.

Trouble since the start
I have 6-10 cards for each of my kiddos. I cannot for the life of me get this to work the right way. I love the concept but walking through set up and cards not reading and internet connection is frustrating.
We own and recommend BOTH
I took advantage of their spring sale and bought my 5 and 3 year old a full size and mini version. They’ve used them daily to fit in the gaps this summer. We regularly take trips with anywhere from 1-3 hour long drives. They use these and have completely forgotten to ask for the iPad. For the most part.
One of our most used cards is the dino rock card. I had to get a headphone splitter so my kids can listen to the same one together.

Hiding behind bots
I have a problem that won't let me use my credits accrued on my Yoto club account. This company has suspended live chats and even their email is manned by bots.
I believe it would be a simple fix if I could just get a hold of someone.
I am going to have to contact my credit card company to try and claw back the amount I spent on the club. Beware!

So many issues lately
I am seeing way more bugs in this app lately. My biggest issue is with managing the settings on my children’s players. The process to connect to wifi seems broken because it will confirm connection was successful during setup but then shows as offline afterwards. The other main issue is that the settings for Morning and Evening keep getting erased and set back to either midnight, zero brightness, and/or full volume. This really messed up bedtime for us this week because I didn’t realize they didn’t get cut off at our usual 8pm :(

Alarm not working
I usually love the Yoto but we decided to start using it as an alarm clock for this year and it won’t set. I’ve tried all sorts of resets and all to no avail.

Constant problems. “Problem saving settings” Added files wont download. Just all around garbage app.

Fun and easy to use!
Poor UI and unreliable
Device quality is decent, but the app is not good: navigating and finding things is hard - you have to switch between different tabs - why not make one global search instead? Transferring media to play on a device often fails. You can’t move the playback forward or backwards which makes it so much worse than any other media app. You can’t set a sleep timer for the end of current track. I really want yoto to succeed and there is so much opportunity to make it top quality.

I just realized that the Wi-Fi wasn’t working so I entered the wrong Wi-Fi. Name but make your own cards are super fun to do.
