What's New in Your Food Journal

1.8.0

April 22, 2022

Thank you for using Your Food Journal. We've been working hard to bring you many new features and enhancements. Much of this has been from all the wonderful feedback we've received from you all. What's New: - View Past Meals: One of the most requested features is the need to view past meals. We've added a new Calendar selection option in the Meals screen in addition to the Journal and Water screen. Now you can view your past meals. - Feed (Beta): We're beta testing out a new feature called Feed. This can be accessed in the Meals screen. The Feed is a dynamic space where we share Recipes, Tips, and more to help give you more tools and ways to eat healthy. Check back often as we add new items and for now enjoy the Recipes and Tips! - Meal Groups: As part of adding the ability to view past meals, we've moved the feature of checking your meal groups for that day to a new section right where it's convenient. Right below your meals logged for that day. Be sure to check it out! - New calendar selection - UX and Performance: Along with many other features, we've also improved the user experience of the app, adding animations and enhancements to make the app more enjoyable to use. We've also squashed a ton of annoying bugs in the process too! We've got a ton of new features and enhancements coming soon too so keep an eye out for the next update. As always, if you have any feedback please leave us a review or reach us at yourbalancedfood@gmail.com

Could be better

Pictures should be bigger and titles able to be longer. Otherwise good app

Love the UX - several ideas for improvement

Really like the design and experience. I appreciate that there aren’t calories, no looking up items and encouraging toxic diet culture… but I am frustrated by some SMALL tweaks that could be easily changed. I would love the ability to:

- add multiple portions of a food group —> so I can see, oh I’ve had 3 carb portions already today

- create more categories of food groups: would love drinks, sweets..

- view the entire meal title when looking at the day (right now it cuts off.. so if you have more than a few words you can’t see it at a glance.. ie., oatmeal, peanut butter and an apple)

- I can’t seem to find the view where I can see a week of food or food groups or how I felt after meals at a glance, although I see it described in the update.

Calories

I love that there are no calorie trackers in this, its a great way to keep track without fixating on numbers!

So perfect for ED recovery and nutrition without diet culture- health focused!

I am so so happy I found this app. I am recovered from disordered eating but also want to eat healthier, generally get an idea of how I am eating, and make sure I am eating enough since I’m a D1 athlete. This app is super helpful as I work on my nutrition and work with my nutritionist. This app is so so perfect for that, I love how straight forward and not overwhelming it is. it has a lot of the features I want- and avoids exactly what I need to avoid (like calorie tracking, exercise goals, or rating foods as healthy or unhealthy)

It won’t work for me

I can’t afford a subscription service right now, I was hoping this would be a one time payment app. I hate all these new subscription stuff. The worst part is, the free version would be great if I could see my past journals for more than a week. Glad I checked what the differences were after only logging for a day, or else in a week I would have been in for a surprise losing all my progress. I need to keep a log for my doctor, but it looks like that log will have to be in a notes app.
