Thanks for writing, and sorry for the mix-up. Yuko is a different app, made by a different company. We are not affiliated with the other one and not a version of it. Here is what Yuko does, and where it is strongest. You do not need the product to be in a barcode database. Point the camera at the printed ingredients list and Yuko reads the text on your device, then checks it against the additive catalogue built into the app. A barcode lookup can only find what someone has already typed into a database; the ingredients are printed on the packet in your hand. So imported goods, small local brands, store brands, something you carried home from a trip - all of it can be checked, with no signal and no database entry. That catalogue is 386 entries: 340 E-numbers plus 46 ingredients written out in words, including gluten, milk, eggs, soy, peanuts, sesame, palm oil, partially hydrogenated oil, high-fructose corn syrup and caffeine. Each entry carries its name in 34 languages and the other spellings it gets printed under, so "E102" and "tartrazine" land on the same entry. Labels are read in English, and in Turkish, Spanish, German, French or Dutch when your device is set to one of those. Scanning the barcode works too. Yuko looks it up in Open Food Facts, the community food database, for the product name and photo, nutrition per 100 g, and the Nutri-Score, NOVA and Eco-Score. You can also build a profile from 17 conditions - celiac disease, lactose intolerance, pregnancy and others - with 137 warning rules behind them, and keep a separate profile for each person in your household, so one scan says what matters for each of them. The whole catalogue is browsable in the Additives tab without scanning anything. Risk levels come from EFSA, WHO, FAO and the Turkish Food Codex, all four listed in Settings, About, beside a health disclaimer that says this is general information and not medical advice. Two limits, honestly: the label scan reports what it finds in the ingredients list, so it covers additives and ingredients rather than calories, and if the light is poor or the print too small it tells you the label could not be read instead of producing a verdict anyway. On cost, since that part of your review is fair: Yuko is free to download and the first 3 scans are free - the subscription screen has a close button in the top corner. After that the scanner runs on Pro: $6.99 a week with a 3-day free trial, $19.99 a year, or $49.99 once for lifetime access. Everything above is included in all three. An update is with Apple right now that rebuilds the barcode side: score breakdowns point by point, the full nutrition table per 100 g or per serving, ingredients with allergens highlighted, packaging and recycling, origins and photos. If you give it another look and something is wrong, Settings, Contact Support reaches us. The product that scanned badly is the most useful thing you can send.

I'm sorry. You reached out for help and didn't hear back, and that's on us. Our support inbox fell behind, and we've been working through it and replying to the messages that were waiting. If you wrote in, please check your inbox (and spam folder, just in case), or write again at edaburakguner@gmail.com. I'd also really like to know what felt unclear. One thing that may help: on any scan result, tap the "i" button at the top, then "How We Score" for a short guide to what the ratings and the four additive risk levels mean. If it still feels confusing, tell me which part so I can look at making it clearer. Burak
Peace of mind
Response from developer
Thank you, AM3324 — "peace of mind" is exactly what we're going for. One small tip in case it's useful: besides the barcode, you can point the camera at the ingredients list on the back of any pack, and Yuko reads the label itself and grades the additives it finds, so it works even for products that aren't in any database. If anything ever looks off, write to us at edaburakguner@gmail.com; we read every message.
This app is great

Thank you so much - this truly made our day! Helping people see at a glance what's inside their food is exactly why we built Yuko. One small note: Yuko is an informational guide, so for personal health decisions please also lean on your doctor's advice. Happy scanning, and thank you for the five stars! - Burak, Yuko
Terrible it doesn’t scan anything. It takes forever to read.
Response from developer
Hi Marwebb, thank you for the honest feedback - you were right, and we fixed it. We found that after tapping Analyze the app was running a second, redundant text-recognition pass, which made results feel painfully slow. We rewrote the scanning flow: results now open instantly, and live label reading is significantly faster. The fix ships in version 4.6.1, rolling out in the next few days as an update. We'd be grateful if you gave Yuko another try - and if anything still feels slow, tell us via Settings > Support and we'll dig in. - The Yuko team

Приложение использует язык вашего устройства. Пожалуйста, обновите приложение и попробуйте снова — будем рады вашему мнению!
Excellent app

Thank you for your comment. The idea behind Yuko actually became very personal for me. When I was going through chemotherapy, my doctor warned me to be much more careful about what’s inside the food I consume. That experience made me realize how difficult it is to quickly understand ingredient lists, and it inspired me to build Yuko to help others make more informed choices about their food.

Thank you for the honest feedback — point taken! 🙏 You're right that asking before you've used the app isn't ideal; we're moving the rating prompt to after a successful scan. Thanks for trying Yuko, and we're glad you like the search feature!
