What's New in zEdit

2.5

July 4, 2026

zEdit 2.5 — What's New NEW FEATURES • Sound Effects: 139 ready-made effects in 11 categories to place on the timeline — applause, laughter, win/lose stings, percussion, nature, animals, mechanical sounds, cinematic transitions and comedy classics. All effects are generated inside the app and are completely royalty-free. Preview each one before adding, choose the start with hundredth-of-a-second precision; effects are saved with your project and mixed into the audio on export. • Audio Filters: 10 filters that transform a chosen range of your audio — Echo, Cave Echo, Room Reverb, Telephone, Old Radio, Underwater, Megaphone, Robot, Tremolo, Muffled. Start and end are set with accessible fields, every filter can be previewed, and logic errors are reported with clear messages. • Undo and Redo: Actions like trimming and volume are undone with one tap; the history is saved with the project. Better yet, subtitles, effects and filters removed by a time-changing action come back to their lists when you undo that action. • Insert: Place new content right into the middle of your video at the second you choose; existing content is split and continues without interruption. • Smart Video/Audio Split: Divide a file into equal parts, delivered as one numbered ZIP. Video is not re-encoded: fast and lossless. • Receive via Share: Content shared from Voice Memos, Photos or Files greets you straight in the Editing Area. • 4 New Languages: Chinese (Simplified), Korean, Ukrainian and Portuguese — the app is now complete in 13 languages. • Audio Merge renewed: Real file names are shown, files can be reordered with move up/down (including VoiceOver custom actions), each file can be previewed before merging; merging always follows the visible list order. FIXES • The rare data loss in audio description projects is fully eliminated; your work now saves automatically — closing the app can no longer lose a description. • Speech synthesis stalls behind the "Audio could not be created" error are fixed; unedited texts are now genuinely skipped. • The freeze during noise reduction is fixed; processing runs in the background and the interface stays responsive. • Music drifting by a few seconds in photo slideshows is fixed at the root. • Share sheets that could open empty are repaired; volume adjustment is reliable on long recordings; audio overlay and silence trimming are significantly faster. • Many accessibility and stability improvements.

Thank you so so much!!!!

For the first time I was able to edit my own videos and do adjustments to what I want and don’t want without wasting my time playing around with other inaccessible abs or half other people helped me edit. This app 100% perfect but this is a great start!

Great app, but missing some features

As a blind content creator, I love having an app I can actually use to edit my videos independently! That being said I think I am experiencing some glitches which is understandable since it's a new app, but I thought I'd let you know. If I double tap on anything relating to my projects with photos or audio description either the name, edit button etc., it takes me to the menu as if I wanted to create a new project, not my project itself. Sometimes when I push export, my phone just freezes and doesn't pull up the share menu even after closing the app and reopening it. Also if I add audio to any project or adjust the volume of my video, anything relating to audio becomes mono audio instead of stereo. When I added audio to a project and turned on the audio extension because I wanted it to keep going throughout my project, it didn't extend the audio. Things that could be improved: When you trim or cut and are able to preview, you should be able to continue adjusting and play as you adjust, not push cancel in the preview menu and have to start the trimming all over again just to get it right. There could also be a third adjustable bar for milliseconds that goes from one to ten so you can get it just right. I would also like the option to put my voice over the video for narration purposes and as far as I can tell that's not an option yet. Overall I love being able to edit pretty accessibly on my own. Keep up the great work! :)

Game Changer

A post about this app showed up on my Facebook feed yesterday, so I decided to try it out. After trying several video editing tools for the past few months, I was about to give up on finding something better and I was ready to settle for less. This changed my mind. I’ve been looking for an accessible tool to create my music covers for YouTube. I needed a way to merge my audio with a visual background to make my videos, and also potentially turn them into lyric videos. With this app, it is possible. Of course, there could always be improvements, such as more accurate speech to text transcriptions and more video resolution options. I believe for YouTube videos, the resolution needs to be 720p, 1080p, etc. Overall, I’m very happy with the app’s performance and really appreciate the VoiceOver hints when I’m not sure how to do something. Looking forward to testing out new features in the future. This is a great start to making video editing accessible for the blind.

I have been waiting for something like this for a long, long time!

I am from California and I found out about this app yesterday afternoon. I downloaded it to my iPhone, and I am not kidding, I was able to make a full podcast episode on my own! I was able to put all the clips together that I wanted, and I can’t even explain how freeing that felt! I am thinking about all of the ways that this will help my creative journey, for both my podcast as well as my YouTube channel! Thank you so much for this!
