Ever wondered exactly what species you're looking at on a day at the zoo? This app has AI identify the animal from your photo, right on your device, and turns it into your own field guide of 118 species. Please do not reach into enclosures, touch the animals or feed them. The zoo's own rules always come first. - Eight specialist AI models under the hood Alongside African grazers, world primates, wild dogs and Japan's own wildlife, this update adds three dedicated models for weasels, tortoises and turtles, and squirrels. Look-alike-heavy groups each get their own trained model. Together they cover 118 species — and that is the limit of what this app can identify. - It never fakes confidence At most three candidates, never a single forced answer. Each one comes with a three-level confidence label ("a strong match" / "a match" / "possibly a match"). When it isn't confident enough, it offers no candidate at all rather than guessing. The same photo always gives the same answer. - Every card is a real read, camera or not All 118 species have write-ups made from scratch: appearance, what to look for, how they live, fun facts and watching tips, sourced from Wikipedia in Japanese and English. You can read the whole guide without ever taking a photo. - A new 4-choice photo quiz Test what you've learned with a photo-based quiz. Three free questions a day. Choosing which pool to draw from — all species, only ones you've found, or only ones you struggle with — is unlocked with purchase. - Your records stay on this device Free accounts still see their last 10 records in the list (older ones are kept, not deleted, and unlock in full with purchase). Tagging a record with a location is entirely optional — turn it on only if you want to — and viewing it on a map opens your device's own maps app. Records can be exported as CSV. - No server behind this app Identification runs entirely on this device. "Restore Purchase" carries it to a new device. - About the training data The identification model was trained only on photos shared as CC0, CC BY, or public domain. No share-alike-licensed photos (such as CC BY-SA) were used. The list of photographers is available in the app's settings.
