Tabata interval training is the single most effective type of high intensity interval training, it's also the most intense by far, and surprisingly it's the shortest in duration: only lasts for four minutes... but those four minutes produce remarkable effects. According to the Japanese founder, Professor Izumi Tabata, one of his four-minute sessions is equal to an hour of jogging, an hour of moderate cycling, two hours of walking, an hour of Zumba or two hours of yoga. What’s not to like? Quite a lot, actually. The idea is to increase your heart rate to its maximum by “going completely mental” for 240 seconds. This is supposed to give you both aerobic and anaerobic benefits (both cardio and muscle workout). But we’re talking about four minutes of pain. The full Tabata program is four minutes long. It will probably be the longest four minutes of your life. If you are going to try it, we would recommend going light with the weights until you find your range, there’s a good chance you will underestimate this workout and be begging people around you to help you off the floor. Tabata intervals follow this structure: Push hard for 20 seconds Rest for 10 seconds. Repeat this eight times. The secret of this effective is in your sprint interval. You have to go all out, so do as many reps as you can in 20 seconds, put it down for 10, then pick it up again and go hell for another 20 seconds.... About

FitPump

Features

FitPump is the training notebook you would have kept by hand, if you felt like writing by hand. You log your weights while you train and the app remembers last time's. It never raises them on its own: you decide when to go up, because one bad day is no reason to change the plan. A TIMER THAT WORKS IN A REAL GYM Tap Rest and the countdown starts. It rings with the screen off and with the silent switch on, it flashes, and when it ends it marks the set you just finished and moves to the next one. Nothing to tap between sets. YOUR GYM, NOT A GENERIC ONE Tell the app which machines your gym has and you only see exercises you can actually do. For each machine you can pick brand and model from over 1200 models by 19 manufacturers, or type your own, and add a photo, so you find the right machine even when the place is packed. READY-MADE OR MADE TO MEASURE Sixty ready workouts, filtered by the equipment you have, plus a generator that builds a plan from your free days, your goal and the time you have. Or build it yourself from a library of more than 160 exercises grouped by muscle. PROGRESS THAT SAYS SOMETHING Personal records with estimated one-rep max, weekly sets per muscle group against the range where muscle actually grows, how often you train each group, volume per session, and the exercises you have been stuck on for weeks. Plus body weight, body fat and measurements, with BMI and FFMI. TRAINING IN MORE THAN ONE PLACE? Save every gym with its own equipment, workouts, weights and history. Change city, switch gym in the app, find everything as you left it. YOUR DATA STAYS YOURS No account, no sign-up, no server. Everything stays on your phone, and you take it with you through Export and Import. FREE AND PRO Free gives you your workout card with the rest timer, two workouts a week, the full exercise library and your equipment list: you can train without paying anything. PRO — a single purchase, no subscription — unlocks all seven weekly workouts, unlimited gyms, the sixty ready-made plans and the generator, the brand and model catalogue with photos, full progress with records and body measurements, complete history with export, colours and sounds. FitPump is not a substitute for advice from a doctor or a qualified trainer.
